  • Gender & Breed Female Saluki (Spayed)
  • Age Elderly
  • Colour Cream

  • Tagged Yes
  • Microchipped Yes
  • Tattooed Unknown
  • Date Lost 06 Feb 2016
  • Where Lost Near Midgley recreation ground, Midgley, Halifax, West YOrkshire. Around the postcode area HX2 6XE.
  • Lost In Region North East
  • Lost In Post Area HX2
  • Date Reunited 30 May 2016
  • Other Info Molly is elderly, frail, thin and visually impaired. She had a black and red coat on, a purple collar with ID tag. Since she disappeared on 6th February there have been absolutely no confirmed sightings of her, nor have we found her collar or coat. Because of this we feel that there must have been some human involvement in her disappearance, whether she was picked up, run over or found dead somewhere. At this stage it would be a huge relief to find out what happened, even if it is bad news. We miss her

From Molly's FB page: Okay, so tonight we found Molly. We had a call from a guy who found her body behind his house. She died underneath some roof tiles behind his barn conversion. It was literally 20 yards away from where I saw her last. This conjures up some very mixed emotions but at least we know where she is. We've picked her up and we're going to get her cremated. Thanks so much to all of you who have supported, worried, looked and cared. We'll never forget it. RIP little one xxxxxxx

Molly mini-update: Earlier this week, my pal and I went over to Wakefield to a traveller site following up a sighting, but needless to say it wasn't Molly. Don't stop letting me know if you see a dog you think might be her. I'm always happy to follow them up as you just never know. If anyone does see a dog that you think might be Molly and you can get a photo of it, that would help no end. I've spent this morning with help from my mum and Betty trawling the riverbanks from Sowerby Bridge to Copley but nothing doing. Will update again next week but in the meantime please don't forget about her and thanks as ever for being amazing, sharing, and looking. It's so much appreciated.
AmandaL
A friend of mine Emma Morris has very kindly produced a poster for both dogs - mainly so that she can see out of her car windows as they were obscured by separate Molly and Echo posters. Here it is if anyone wants to use. No harm in having more than one out there to catch people's eye. You can find the poster on the Facebook page Find Missing Molly & Help find Echo. xx

Thinking of you ,Amanda, good luck and keep positive x

Hi all, sorry for the delay in posting an update. I thought I'd done one on Sunday but my brain seems to be elsewhere. I called the Halifax Courier and the Hebden Bridge Times to ask if they could put something in print for me as they've been quite good online and tweeting etc. I'm hoping they will print something this week. We had a thorough search around the area on Sunday - we split the area into six and sent around 40 people off in different directions. Absolutely no clues were found whatsoever. It's baffling. I was so pleased that so many turned out for us - many of whom we don't know. I've also been able to borrow a camera drone which I won't get chance to try out until next weekend as I'm working. I followed a possible sighting to a travelling camp in Wakefield but the dog, although a hound and not in great condition, wasn't Molly. So please as always help keep it alive. So much appreciated, and thank you. xxx

Amanda - I sent you this link on the 7th Feb https://www.arcadiasky.co.uk/drone-hire/united-kingdom/west-yorkshire on GRSY's FB page
DogLostNina
I have had a look and the nearest I can find on google is listed as on Facebook Yorkshire Drone Owners Club...I don't use f/b so I cant help much but it might be a lead to other clubs in the UK
DogLostNina
Have you googled drone owners and clubs in the uk. Do you have any air fields in your area who could help if they fly light aircraft.
AmandaL
thanks again all. I'm currently looking for drone or microlite but not found nearby as yet xx
Doglover
Telephoned owner as I saw a Saluki in Fohnd I the Pound, but unfortunately not her dog. Have suggested that she gets Media coverage now as no sightings. X

Do you have a microlite or drone club in the area? A flyer might well be happy to scan the area for you. It has been done in the past.
Baydogs
AmandaL, unfortunately I'm too far away to help with the search but I'm willing your lovely girl home safely and soon.

Have you tried an appeal over local radio yet?
AmandaL
Thanks for your continuing support and good wishes, it's hard to explain just how much it means. Re; CCTV, yes we have a friend with CCTV and he couldnt see her on it. There's a school nearby and we're going to see if they can look on theirs. xx
JulieH
Hoping she has found an outbuilding at one of those houses to shelter in,thinking of you Amanda, you are doing a great job ,good luck x
AmandaL
So. Molly update. Phebe and Whisper came up from Worksop today to see if Whisper could get any scent of Molly from where we last saw her despite the weather. She tracked along a route that we'd covered up to a point and beyond, so she has given us a few more houses and people to cover with door knocking etc and a slightly different direction to look in. The route is steep downhill in places and goes down to the river - which has been raging over the past few days - and across to some woodland at the back of Luddenden Lane and Grove Crescent. So we didn't find her but there were a few places where Whisper really seemed to have a strong scent going. Thinking about her going into the river leaves me feeling too sick so I'm trying to come away from that for now.
Couple of other leads today which friends have followed up around the Eastwood/Todmorden area, but nothing come of that as yet.
Again thanks so much for all the support - please keep it up, you never know! xxx
dekkaann
When on her walk did you pass any person who may have commented on her? another thought, as you go onto the park area there looks to be houses, have you checked if any have CCTV? if so I would be looking for any cars/vans other than residents. Loads of luck x
jaybee
hope you find her soon i love these oldies cant get her off my mind
Spence
Everything crossed for you. I can't get her off my mind and pray for you to be reunited really soon xxx
JulieH
Good luck Amanda, hoping for good news soon, cannot stop thinking about your lovely girl x
AmandaL
I've had a message from someone saying that a friend saw a Molly-like dog in Eastwood being walked by someone. It may well not be her, but if anyone lives near or passes through Eastwood and you know of a similar dog, or spot a similar dog, please could you let me know either way - a photo would be even better - I'm sure a genuine dog owner would be okay with this. Also if anyone can stick up posters around that area that would be great. I'll be going there myself when I can. However I've got a lovely lady with a tracker dog coming from Worksop just now so will see what that brings.
AmandaL
Thank you - I've popped posters into both schools nearby - but only A4. Will try and make a bigger one.
dekkaann
See you are near an infants school, maybe make up a large poster with her photo on it and ask for it to be displayed where all the children can see it, kids are great for spreading the word. Sure you have done it already but check all ponds, streams and ditches in the area. Wishing you all luck in your search xx
Hollieberry
Poor girl I hope she is found soon x
