- Thanks bullysu. Such a sad end for Lady but at least her owners have her back so they can lay her to rest.
ClaireC: Thanks for your help with this. I didn't know about the other dog I'm afraid as not been on Fbk (due to being blocked again) over the weekend. So sad this keeps happening but my thanks also go to Lisa and NR for assisting recovery of the dogs. - 2016-02-16 13:57 LoveSpringers

This was yet another dog (3 in total one of which is Ruby who is still missing)that had gone missing in the area on Sat and has now been identified by its owners and taken home. RIP lovely dog. My thanks to NR and especially Lisa. XxLast edited: 2016-02-16 09:25:18 by ClaireC

- Sorry but is it possible to confirm, that finder saw the black dogs body today? Or late yesterday, just to confirm as to whether this is a 2nd body, thank you
- 2016-02-16 08:25 bullysu
- Sadly I have just been advised, this may in fact be a 2nd black dog :(

- So very sad ...run free at the Bridge Lady .....sincere condolences to the owners

- It was due to a break in the fence, in the Salts recreation ground, I have been on to our local councillors to stop this happening again and I am pleased to say, network rail are attending today to secure the fence to the railway line, sadly too late for poor Lady :(
- 2016-02-16 07:51 bullysu
- The poor dog (Lady) has been returned to her owners :(

- ClaireC: Maybe a local Dog Warden or vet surgery would help check for a microchip? If the company that collects deceased animals for NR do not have a scanner maybe they can take to a vet to have it checked (they do that in our area even though they have no scanner)

- ok...
- 2016-02-15 16:18 ClaireC
- Skywalker there were 2 deceased dogs one they knew about and has been returned to owner and this still unknown one at the moment.
- 2016-02-15 16:16 ClaireC
- Thanks Clarkey but is there anybody near that has a scanner just in case its not obvious that it is Ruby as NR in that area apparently don't have one?
- 2016-02-15 16:13 Skywalker99
- Putting 2 and 2 together, according to Brighton Dogwatch FB page this dog is called lady
- 2016-02-15 16:03 Clarkey - Area Co-ordinator, East Sussex
- Thanks for following up on this ClaireC. I do hope it is not Ruby but obviously it's possible it is as she was lost in the area, although if the dog is really black than it can't be her.
Hopefully Network Rail will retreat the poor dog soon and will check it for a microchip. - 2016-02-15 15:19 ClaireC
- Still awaiting on further report from Network Rail when they have retrieved the deceased dog. Will update further but may not now be until tomorrow. NR have been extremely helpful having now got through to the correct dept. My thanks to Lisa who is doing all she can to bring closure to an owner. Sadly not all tracks can be fenced off as any animal can walk down the footbridge to get onto platforms especially in rural areas. There are also the tracks that cars have to cross when safe to do so. I know that train drivers are equally upset to find any animal or human in front of them and can do little about it in time.Last edited: 2016-02-15 15:31:14 by ClaireC

- Trying to get an answer from Network Rail as to whether this could be our lost dog from Lewes. Sadly not got anywhere as they refuse to give out the phone number for Seaford and say they haven't got anything on their system about the dog. Apparently I have to travel to Seaford Railway Station to ask them myself! Not the easiest thing when you are at work and your car currently has no exhaust!! Please can anyone else get any info on this??

- Although this deceased dog is stated black colouring i have advised owner of missing Ruby of this deceased dog mainly because of location and the filthy weather we have experienced of late! Owner will speak to Railtrack staff as advised above.

- Thank you for report into doglost as it may give an owner closure of their missing dog.
