- Mums still looking for you girls.

- Tweet now circulating with photos of both these girls - Oddie and Millie.
Thank you. - 2016-02-17 09:25 Spindle
- Don't give up hope. Jack russells have got out of a set before once they drop weight after a week or so. Could they come out of a hole further up. Hope you find them.

- No, don't give up hope! I'm sorry if my comment sounded that way.
I still think they probably came out but maybe they were spooked by something that took them away from your home.
Are you able to BBQ tonight?
Can you set up a Facebook page dedicated to them so that increases awareness for them in your area?
They are both tagged and chipped, which means that you have the best chance of being contacted if someone picks them up. - 2016-02-16 17:04 EWhite
- You have to have a licence to put a camera down the set. Natural England wont give me a licence unless the fire brigade hear something. Its way to public and busy to do this without a licence and it is very near where the beavers are so as you can imagine very sensitive area. It is possible that they are dead in the sett but the RSPCA say that is extremely unusual to loose 2 dogs like this. so i am not giving up hope.

- Thanks Sharon. Would it be possible to Twitter etc for Millie, Oddie's sister, as well- they went missing together. Her ID is 98633.
EWhite. Can you BBQ here tonight at dusk? Something really smelly that they might appreciate? This might stir them into making a sound or an appearance. - 2016-02-16 14:22 Baydogs
- The only other thing I can suggest is a camera down the sett, if that hasn't already been done by the fire service. Maybe a drainage company that uses cameras for sewers might be able to help here. This might establish (and I hate to write it but it covers another angle) that there has been a collapse of sand within the sett.

- The area where the set is is basically on a steep bank which drops down onto a flat area which is covered by shallow water twice a day depending on the tide and rainful (which has been little over the last couple of days). I went up and down the steap bank and also climbed down onto the flat bit yesterday. If they went into the river they are only a few hundred metres from the sea. But I covered all the bank towards the sea that I could. The fire service think that while it is possible for one to go over the edge to the river it is unlikely for two to do so.
But I will keep looking all along that section to the sea.
Will do with the flat area to catch foot prints brilliant idea.

- Well, it's here. Great picture!
You say the main sett entrance is on a slope. How far from the edge of the river is this? Is there a possibility that your girls landed in the river in pursuit of their catch and climbed out further downstream? It may be an idea to poster downstream if you think that is a possibility. Sorry if that sounds alarming-just trying to cover all angles.
Creating a platform of compressed wet, smoothed sand at the entrances of the sett might pick up activity in and out too - i.e. paw prints. - 2016-02-16 13:56 EWhite
- Hi Baydogs
I have gone over the ground and called at all entrances as advised, swamped with photos the area. I am trying to upload a pic but not managed it yet. I will keep trying. Thank you so much for all your advice. - 2016-02-16 13:55 Gino

- I suspected as much; badgers prefer sandy soil and design the setts on slopes to allow for natural drainage. They are smart house designers.
This dog got stuck because he wouldn't let go of the bunny!

Did your firemen use a camera at all?
Keep calling and listening by the set. Explore other openings , not just this one. Maybe take a favourite squeaky toy that they might respond to.
I still feel (and hope) that your two little ones made it out elsewhere via another opening, perhaps in pusuit of a rabbit. Is there shrubbery/gorse above this sett? Other openings can be concealed. Swamp the area with posters of them if you haven't already. Do you have a picture of Odie ? Call vets, rescues and the dog warden daily. An announcement on local radio can often be helpful.
I really hope that they show themselves soon x - 2016-02-16 12:19 EWhite
- We are on sandy soil here in Devon. She is missing with her sister.
- 2016-02-16 11:22 EWhite
- Yeh they did use the equipment they use on earthquakes. They were so good and the set is on a steep bank with a huge drop to the river below.
- 2016-02-15 23:05 Baydogs
- That was really good of the fire service to help like that. Did they use seismic equipment suitable for finding earthquake victims? Some of the older setts can be massive with many tunnels amounting to hundreds of metres long though. What kind of soil in your area....clay....sandy?
- 2016-02-15 22:47 EWhite
- Yes but the sett is very near our house and she is missing with her sister Millie. The fire service have helped to listen down the set with special equipment.

- Badger setts can be much more complex than only one hole. An established large badger sett can have 50-100 holes, dug by many badgers over the years. Is it possible that Oddie has run through the maze of compartments and come out somewhere else?
