- Janie you are very good at naming deceased pets what do think would be suitable for this lovely girl?
- 2016-02-21 20:40 Unknown
- If now owner claims can we give her a name to take to the bridge?
Thanks for info: ClaireC - 2016-02-21 18:45 ClaireC
- My husbands immediate answer would be no as regards to oedaema. Swelling could be fluid that would have built up naturally over a period of a few days ie 2-3 days due to colder weather, less days in hotter temps. Also dependent how long it took to die ie lactic acid with fear ie adrenaline. He is of the opinion that the dog died instantly ?poss cardiac problems. As has been said maybe died and he/she/they didnt know what to with the body and left it in a public place in the knowledge that it would be picked up and disposed of. - Clarkey, thanks for posting. Could eventually give an owner closure. ClaireC-Would your medical husband agree that the bloating may also be caused by water retention (heart disease) or the beginnings of the body's natural deterioration?
It may be that this dear dog had a history of heart disease, became lost and without it's daily medication had a sudden cardiac arrest.
RIP sweetheart.Last edited: 2016-02-21 16:37:04 by Baydogs - 2016-02-21 16:22 Clarkey - Area Co-ordinator, East Sussex
- Thanks Love Eurasier. I have had a good look and I'm not sure as there's no full body photos of Jet who is described as small GSD/terrier x, black and tan. However, this dog was beige colour all over and had no black (even greying) on her although she had dark pigmentation and lots of hair around/in her ears (which Jet does not seem to have)
ClaireC: Think it's the light. Photo does not show how big she was either and colour looks partly white which she was not. She looked reasonably well cared for and LindaT she was a little bloated but do not believe she was pregnant.
No CCTV in car park and had prob been dumped that morning as had been wet overnight and she was dry. Last edited: 2016-02-21 16:29:15 by Clarkey - Area Co-ordinator, East Sussex - 2016-02-21 15:33 collieowner
- Love Eurasier, I think you may have a point here. Very similar and was an old dog. Poor pooch 😰

This is the one I wanted someone to check, http://www.doglost.co.uk/poster.php?dogId=98087 - 2016-02-21 13:38 ClaireC
- Hi Clarkey just the way the tongue is and slight discolouration but could be the light when photo taken. Also as reported no obvious sign of any injury which makes me feel a bit suspect as to cause of death! Medical husband said would prob need toxicology to be taken to be certain though.Last edited: 2016-02-21 13:42:30 by ClaireC

- So sad. Run free at the bridge, lovely girl xxxx

- She looks plump ... I wonder if she was pregnant. If there is cctv in the area and other car-park users could narrow the possible time this dog was dumped there may be a chance for a car to be spotted, although I imagine it could have happened after dark, but I agree with a previous comment she doesn`t look as if she has been there long.

- Poor lady. My old lurcher was very like this girl, probably bedlington x greyhound for the shaggy coat but difficult to judge breed when dog is in this position. RIP x

- This female lurcher dog has been missing for a while but I think there has been sightings of her, I have put this link on their group page and asked for somebody to check the link out in case it is the same dog https://www.facebook.com/NewsOnWillow/timeline

- Love Eurasier If you can add a link to the stolen dog you mentioned I may be able to tell if it was her. However, she was not as big as a GSD.
ClaireC: Not sure but why do you ask please? She looked as though she had just passed away and vets did not seem to suspect anything like that (although they will inform RSPCA for their information) Last edited: 2016-02-20 21:58:23 by Clarkey - Area Co-ordinator, East Sussex - 2016-02-20 21:53 ClaireC
- Clarkey would the vet still be able to check for poisoning?

- She looks like she has Wheaton terrier in her looking at her coat, bless her x

- Could she be a GSD X ? I have looked at the poster of a 10 yr old female that was stolen in Jan they look very similar..can anyone check? She isn't microchipped from the information neither is the found deceased one.

- Thanks for all the comments. I have amended the location as I got it a bit wrong .. sorry! The dog was actually in the car park at the old Helipad (where the toilets are) on the left going up Fairlight Road before you get to Martineau Lane.
She did not have any obvious injuries and looking as though she had been dumped I'm afraid.
I think she had probably been unwell and had died. Maybe owners were not aware that there are places they could have taken her to.
She didn't really look like a Border terrier X as she was much bigger with quite long legs .. the angle of the photo is a little deceptive. Last edited: 2016-02-20 22:55:10 by Clarkey - Area Co-ordinator, East Sussex - 2016-02-20 20:16 TK - Area Volunteer, East Sussex
- Poor doggie, Was kind of finders to seek help and Thank You Clarkey for scanning and taking to vets ..
Seems rather strange, wonder if she has wondered off from nearby houses & been hit by car and staggered off into undergrowth, although vets didnt think rta .. sleep tight little one x - 2016-02-20 19:49 Seaside Lady
- Looks a little like a Border/Lakeland cross rather than a lucrher. May be worth sharing to 'Border Terriers Lost & Found'. RIP little dog & thank you to the finder for caring.

- I got a call at about 2pm today from Mr Wells who had found a deceased dog at the car park of North Seat, Fairlight saying he had called the council and Dog Wardens but had not been able to speak to anyone.
I went up to North Seat and scanned the poor girl but sadly no microchip or collar. She did not appear to have been there for long as she was not wet from the rain this morning and she was not thin.
I managed to talk to the Dog Wardens (think finders may have called wrong dept) who advised to take her to Coopers Vets which I did as the finders were not able to do so.
Coopers vets also scanned the dog and found nothing. They said there were no signs of injuries (as in RTA)
Coopers will keep the dog at their surgery for 7 days in case anyone comes forward to claim her.
Rather a sad duty but thanks to Mr Wells for reporting this and I'm glad that we were able to retrieve this dog so she was not left out in the elements.
Run free girlie :(

- Poor little girl, it sounds as if she has been dumped there? God bless your little soul, poppet. I hope someone recognises her, do you think it is worth putting notices up in the car park in case a regular user had seen something or knows of this dog?
