CROSS POSTED UPDATE: Shelly Broome

Thank you everyone Alfie's home!!! Thank you for all the heartfelt support and tireless efforts to find Alfie - we've got him back and he seems absolutely fine! Just resting now :) I also have a very happy daughter - see photos! He was found today by a lady farmer in Scarisbrick in her garage - she called me and kept him there for me until I arrived. We'd put lots of leaflets in the area the night before and a neighbour of the farmer gave her my number. Many many thanks again for constantly looking out for him and keeping me going! X

Cross posted from Scouse Pets 2:

Hi sorry having problems with fb and only just catching up as didnt get in till late. Yes we met at 6 at formby point , even though it was lashing down . We met up with Tracy Crosthwaite Jenny Preston Kellie O'Shea and about 10 others who have been amazing and so supportive and will continue over weekend to post leaflets and posters provided to them by us, we discussed options and areas and they will be there if needed with any sightings, so i can not thank them enough for turning out tonight in this bad weather. About 6.40pm 4 of us headed to squirell reserve as rain had subsided. we proceeded to poster squirel reserve and also onto the beach and the carpark as lost of people will be heading there this weekend. we also ventured into the dunes while searching and posted there on trees. Aftre that we went to larkhill lane and postered there and then proceeded back to formby point to put a few more posters up and also at entrance of caravan park and along the entrance to formby point on the trees. I hope this helps.we have had experience in this area with many lost dogs before. I did message you saying i would not be at scarisbrick, but not sure you got that, Leah was aware we were changing to formby as she commented on my change of area posts this afternoon. we are all available for any sightings anywhwere as we all just want alfie home , so keep fingers crossed and keep us updated, we are here if needed and will act on any positive sightings. Keep us updated on scarisbrick front too, we all want alfie home x

Update from owner:

Hi, I hear a productive time was had in Formby tonight...thanks so much for such a big effort! We covered quite a bit of ground in Scarisbrick too - put posters in pubs, a garage, a few outdoor spots and through the door of all the houses surrounding the field (where tricolour border collie spotted). In conversation we also discovered two more sightings - a local dog groomer saw him yesterday morning in the same field and yesterday teatime a man saw him at the back of his garden sniffing his dogs. Alfie left when he came out but the man also described the dog as 'wearing a blue collar' !!! That's the first mention of his collar. The man's house backs on to the same field.

My sister owns land and has a farm within 2 minutes of that location. L40 9QR. Theres also a BC that lives that area and gets loose a fair bit - I hope this is Alfie but be aware it may be this other dog. My sisters caught him in the past as he chases her horses.

UPDATE Posted by owner:

POSITIVE SIGHTING OF ALFIE AGAIN THIS MORNING IN THE SAME FIELD AS YESTERDAY! Turfland field at end of Hillock Lane / behind Drummersdale Lane. Scarsbrick
Bo
I spoke at length to the owner this morning as she was on the boardwalk near the new lifeboat station thinking that's where yesterday's sighting were so I pointed out the old light boat station (just a few bricks) as that's where the sighting was described as. Personally I doubt he's gone from where he was lost, all the way to New Cut Lane, and back again - but I'm no expert. So I'm assuming the search will be concentrated near to where he escaped his harness which is near the sheep fields (There are no longer sheep in them as they were PTS last year due age).
He's nervous and fearful of people (especially adult woman) - he's more comfortable with children and dogs, in particular Border Collies as he lived and ran with a pack of them. We ideally need a crate when we establish where Alfie is hanging round. He isn't going to come to anyone from what I can gather, including his new owner. Most walkers out early morning seem to be aware of him - especially BC owners - of which there are many thankfully.

Various size word doc posters now done and emailed to owner and members of Scouse Pets 2. Info/Advice and SCENTING INSTRUCTIONS also emailed to owner. If anyone is able to help with the postering and handing out smaller ones please let us know and they can be emailed to you or sent via fb msg. Posters can also be printed from here.

Thanks again to everyone who is helping/supporting owner.

Sorry for delay in replying Bo owner has not sighted him but some of the sightings have been by people who know him. I have asked owner to check his DL page and answer questions, she was having a problem logging on.

Thanks Alison and everyone who is looking out for him and also sharing his details. Update not long posted by owner on Scouse Pets 2:

New Cut Lane sightings were around 6.30am, one around Halsall Riding Centre and the other near Halsall Road end . A few of us scoured the area today, talking to residents, posting flyers etc but no luck, but lots if easy places to hide! Unfortunately I must work day and eve tomorrow so won't be able to get back up there. However I plan to be back break of dawn Thursday wherever last sightings of Alfie make sense. Will keep in touch with any info. If anyone can be out 6 am tomorrow that would be great! !! X

Info rcvd via txt from owner:

Details different from previous time. Lost in Formby Squirrel Reserve Sunday 24th. There's since been a possible sighting of him near Barkfield Lane, not far from the reserve. He's definitely Alfie now! No recall but does now recognise that name. Wearing only his collar (slipped a harness!).
