Thrilled to see her back at her proper home! x

It is wonderful news that she is now home. However, it is a legal requirement if you find a dog that you inform the dog warden. Dogs should always be scanned for a microchip, and vets can do this. It is great that she was well looked after, but what a shame that if she had been scanned she could have been home a lot sooner.

Hello,

Just wanted to point your attention to this article on our recently found dog, Kenya. We asked the paper to specifically mention the website in hope that it will point more people in your direction. They have also asked for other stories concerning missing dogs. http://www.thisisstaffordshire.co.uk/news/Tale-missing-dog-happy-ending/article-3441613-detail/article.html

Our thanks,
Lucy Daynes.

She was about 5/6 miles away, the other side of the city effectively. Certainly not an easy journey for a dog as there are lots of fast roads. It would definitely be interesting if she could talk! Thank you for all your comments :)

kenya was found on Monday 04.04.11 and has been returned home. She is safe and well and a little bit bigger now! We have no idea where she has been all this time but someone was obviously caring for her. I know it is a long time ago, but thank you to everybody who helped - an article has been written for The Sentinel and we have asked them to mention this website.

I'm not giving up - I'm fairly confident we'll see Kenya again at some point. I'm still really grateful for all the help and support from everyone out there. Keelah, I've lost your phone number. I'm hoping to get a letter to editor printed, maybe that will spur the sentinel into something.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Is the beautiful Kenya insured? If so, most policies will pay for advertising, etc for lost dogs. Make sure you visit all local community-type pubs. Go there at lunchtime or early evening when they're not so busy. Ask the manager to display Kenya's poster. Speak to as many of the regulars as possible. They will have lots of good contacts and will be a mine of local information. Unfortunately many lost or stolen dogs are traded on via pubs. Take Kenya's photo into one of those high street printers and get them to reproduce her photo approx 12 to an A4 page. Write your contact details on the back and try to include an alternative landline number. Hand these out to everyone you come across, including the pub customers. That way when someone spots Kenya or hears of someone who has recently acquired a new dog that fits her description, they will have your details to hand, rather than having to return to a poster. Display a poster of Kenya in your car and ask family, friends, neighbours and work colleagues to do the same. Poster like mad and make Kenya the hottest girl in town. Keeping my fingers crossed 'this end' and hoping that you find her very soon.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

thanks for advice, will try widening the search area. have got lost dog announcement in sentinel for 4 days. no kids, but a very distraught collie. i'm glad you got milo back. i'm still hopeful. going to ask radios to make another announcement today.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

lucy_d remember to widen your poster campaign alwell. Milo by bullie ended up in Tunstall and got him back from Chell Heath in the end. I was postering in the wrong part of the city as i never expected him to turn up there, also it helped me in the end by an ad in the classified section under the pet watch, it cost a bit (about ?30.00) but it got my boy back in the end. I will start around my end and go further afield over the weekend and poster around where i am working at the moment, Burslem and middleport. I found the sentinel to be pretty good, i got a 3/4 piece in the sunday Sentinel, i know its not as good as the weekly one but its publicity all the same. also another idea is to write a piece and try and get it into the letters to the editor about what you are going through etc, Milo escaped through a gate in my back garden and was swapped for two staffie pups which probably made it more appealing for a story, just think of something they would be interested in ie do you have distraught kids now she has gone. I do know what you are going through as milo was missing for two weeks. Try and stay positive as it will come good in the endLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Keelah - The Sentinel is all one brand, sunday sentinel just being the paper they produce on Sunday :) it's usually much thinner than other days! I'm writing a complaint to the editor. Matt - thanks for helping. Have got posters in shops, supermarkets, pubs, takeaways, civic buildings and lamposts throughout Fenton and Longton. Also given to vets in same area, around the fields most commonly used for dog walking and in rspca kennel, city dogs and lifeline - we also visit these a couple times a week.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Hey Lucy - if she has been picked up off the street by someone who has not reported finding her to the authorities then she is stolen! Theft by finding. I have emailed the reporter back and really begged for some help on this one. Help me out with this please - is the sentinel different to the sunday sentinel? Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

sadly, nothing to report, still not home. Just heard from the Sentinel - unfortunately they will not be able to do an article as previously they were about stolen dogs and we don't think she was stolen. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

We've just been re-united with Coby who was taken from Stafford to Stoke and sold to an unsuspecting family. If there's anything we can do to help you find Kenya please let us know. We'll be keeping a look out in Stafford and will put posters up around the main routes in and out of the town. Sentinal seem to be really good and helped us a lot - they even did a follow up today! And take and advice given by the staff at Dog Lost - they really do know what they're talking about. We really hope that Kenya is found soon. Best of luck, Jo and JayLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Posters need to be displayed as soon as possible on notice boards, lamp posts, entrances to parks, dog bins and on cars. Take posters to vets, pet shops, postmen (for sorting offices), milkmen, dustmen, street cleaners, taxi drivers, schools, pubs, youth clubs, newsagents, post offices, takeaways, dog training clubs, supermarkets and car parks. Hand out reduced-down posters or cards to people - especially dog walkers - and deliver to houses and businesses. Police stations, Dog Wardens, the RSPCA and all rescue centres need checking frequently and preferably visited in person by owner or someone who knows Kenya well. Good Luck Kenya x Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18
