Hi Hils, If she was about to start her season at the beginning of October then the pups would be born at the end of December and it would be the end of February before they would be ready for sale. It would be worth checking the ads at the end of January. hth. DaveLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

As with Sapphire, going back over the facts trying to get some clues. One point we did not mention was that Evie was just coming into season when she went missing, could this have made a difference?? If she was in whelp the pups would be due very soon? Any one with a newish dog, small black lab due to have pups in your area? Welcome any experts view on this.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18
Evie's Mum:
Unfortunately the Isleham sighting was not Evie. Last night my husband managed to track down the owners of an "escape artist" young boy labrador who had escaped at the same time as the sighting from a house in the next street. He looks strikingly similar to Evie. So just yet another false sighting.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Still waiting to know if this was the real Evie, Owner has been in the village searching, nothing so far. She has discovered that there is another black lab lives in the village and is waiting for her owners to get in to establish if she escaped today and did a bit of binning! So frustrating, Still hoping though.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Postering yesterday, Chippenham, Kennet, Isleham, Worlington, Beck Row, West Row. Quite a few people I spoke to had seen her in papers. Even found a black lab at kennels but owners do not think sounds like Evie. Found black lab bitch is very sturdy and bouncy probably 1 year or under! Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Evie's Mum:
Unfortunately the Newmarket sighting was a false alarm - I found the owners of a medium sized black labrador without a collar (exactly as caller described) who got out for a half hour adventure at that time and place. So it looks like the Worlington sighting is the last possible one now.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Evies people may have already replied to this but just saw it, Ramsden Square is off Milton Road North of central Cambridge its 10.13 miles South of Evie's home in Stretham and would be in the right area, in fact I was very close to it Saturday on way back from postering. Its close to Chesterton Fens. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

A stray black labrador was seen in Ramsden Square, north Cambridge late on Sunday night. The person couldn't see what colour colour but thought it looked just like the photo in the paper. Regards...e mail from owner. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

went Cottenham, rampton, willingham, etc sat 20th, walked by river and put up poster near road (Official poster). No sign, but there was lots of cover and place a dog could make a warm nest if she is in that area. Nice warms days this week lets get that girl home. Good LuckLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

A possible sighting in Willingham on Monday morning. It sounds quite good - behaviour very like Evie, but caller was unable to see colour of collar or whether it was a boy or girl. I'm off there now posters in hand.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18
Evie's Mum:
My husband was out on Monday - posters out in Cottenham, Waterbeach & revisited Wilburton plus several travellers sites. One place we haven't postered - the travellers site just off the A14 - can't work out which road leads to it - does anyone know? We're going to try again tomorrow. We were both out again today - posters in Little Thetford and then redoing lots with waterproof versions. Went to the visitors centre in Wicken Fen and put some posters in the visitors centre and cafe and car park. Back to Gullivers Diner where the staff said the manager might look at the CCTV footage (and where Evie was seen a week ago) but the manager is away for a long trip and won't be back before the middle of next week and noone else can do it. On to the potato factory - Fly's obviously been here but talked to some of the workers some of them live on site. All of this and STILL the phone doesn't ring! Many many thanks to Fly & Saffy's Mum for all their help.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Hi - just back from postering and enquiring: Histon, Smithy Fen (very nice and helpful) Wilburton, Stretham, lazy Otter, Chittering and Park & Rides East and North. Last house in Chittering worth going again when they're in, their land goes right across to stretham over the fields and the locals say they are doggy people, saw a gsd and hienz but could hear others inside. Left a poster with a message to call if any news. ALSO Unlikely - but as I was on way back through Chesterton saw a tall man with gingerish hair with a Evie lookalike by the Haymakers but had traffic up the back of me and couldn't stop or turn round, and prob not her anyway but was a smallish slim lab ret, (had a very waggy tail and walked 'tall'. It was a fab day driving round the fens I kept wishing shed just appear to make it perfect.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Evie's Mum:
Looks like the Wicken sighting may have been a different dog. I spoke to someone yesterday who had seen a black lab - large, looking happy and wearing a red collar (definitely not Evie) a couple of times this week in Wicken/Soham so this other sighting may well have been the same dog. Despite lots of posters going up in the last couple of days I've had no phone calls with further sightings so maybe that dog has been reunited with its owner. Otherwise it's all gone quiet. ):Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Have just got back from a morning postering Wicken to Cambs and looking for Evie. Its hard to say which direction she might have taken assuming the sighting WAS her. I think around the Lazy Otter is a possibility for anyone in that area, some of the boat people might have seen her or even picked her up. Met up with Evies people her photo ad will be in the local paper for 6 nights starting tomorrow, that usually gets good results, so fingers crossed. Anyone cross reffing other sites she is quite a small lab and may be labelled as lab X or even lab pup.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Make sure you mark any sightings on a map to see if she is moving in a particular pattern, also the times of when she has been seen. It is important that if anyone sees her they do NOT try to grab or catch her but just leave food and set up a regular feeding time and gain Evie's trust. You do not want her to get frightened and move away from the area. If you look at Rambo (GSD North WF4) she settled on someone's land. Rambo's owner was brilliant and took her time which finally paid off with the result everyone was waiting for. I hope Evie settles where she has been seen. Jan xxxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Evie's Mum brilliant that you have had good sightings. You need to get to the area as early as possible, ideally when first light and take some food like pilchards. Great the posters are now working and you are getting calls. Everyone is doing a fantastic job helping you. Hope to see her in the blue soon. Jan xxxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Another sighting today - this time in Wicken about five miles away and at the same time of day - 8am. Went and searched with Saffy's mum and her two daughters but no trace. Put up loads of posters there. Just hoping for the best.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18
Evie's Mum:
There was a good sighting (confirmed by someone else) of Evie today - I'm pretty sure it's her. She was just quarter of a mile away right next to the A10 (not such good news). Unfortunately noone stopped and when we were contacted two hours later there was no trace of her. We spent all day walking round the fields there calling her name. Still it's fantastic to know that she's still alive and that the posters are starting to work. It's awful now though thinking she's out there scared and alone and might run in front of a car at any time (and it's really foggy here at the moment). Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Evie is very small - just 22kg. We have loads of leaflets out in Stretham, Wilburton and Haddenham and a couple in Wicken. I now need to take this further. If anyone can help at all I will be very grateful. I am visiting rescue centres round here today. Is anyone aware of rescue centres other than Wood Green, Poplar Farm and RSPCA at Block Fen around here?Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

As soon as Admin receives a photograph, the poster will be emailed out to helpers. Posters need to be displayed as soon as possible on notice boards, lamp posts, entrances to parks, dog bins and on cars. Take posters to vets, pet shops, postmen (for sorting offices), milkmen, dustmen, street cleaners, taxi drivers, schools, pubs, youth clubs, newsagents, post offices, takeaways, dog training clubs, supermarkets and car parks. Hand out reduced-down posters or cards to people - especially dog walkers - and deliver to houses and businesses. Police stations, Dog Wardens, the RSPCA and all rescue centres need checking frequently and preferably visited in person by owner or someone who knows Evie well. Stay safe Evie, until you are found x Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18
