Shame, SHAME on the POLICE for never making Scarlett STOLEN. This is a disgusting act from your local constabulary. Try checking your local Travellers site, more dogs are being found on them with their chips gouged out. Please, never give up on her xx
Jane
As there has been NO sightings of Scarlet since her disappearance. She should now have a CRN and be changed to STOLEN. The police is your area are rubbish, shameful. If you look at the other dogs on DogLost where the police have given the owners a CRN when there is even a suspicion of dog theft. I would report your constabulary to the relevant body. They are a disgrace.
Alison
It should be in the hard copy that is sold in stores.
Chattanooga
Thank you for letting me know. Have checked the website but can't see anything = do I have to pay for a full years subsciption to see it.?

Thank you Jane, I feel the ony way we will get her back is if she is flagged up as missing if a vet scans her. Only thing is not all vets routinly scan dogs. I know as I have had to ask for my other dogs to be scanned for me to keep a check on wnere the chip is.
Jane
Scarlett is still very much on my mind - someone has her and hopefully a vet will scan her and she will flag up. Shared and Twittered for your beautiful girl. So sorry the police are useless. It's getting more common now that they don't do anything - even when it's clearly theft...xx

Bumped due to coverage on Look North yesterday.

Jane
Shared Twittered. There has been no sightings of Scarlett whatsoever re her disappearance. I think now you are well within your rights to ask the police for an upgrade to STOLEN. If she was 'lost' someone somewhere would have seen her. Please go back to the police and get her upgraded to STOLEN...
Jane
Thank you for the update on Scarlett. As a police officer he should have looked at the case thoroughly and with all the circumstantial evidence regarding her disappearance issued a CRN. As I have said before, there is MORE EVIDENCE she was STOLEN than not. As you have seen on DogLost, many other police forces issue CRN's even if there is a mere suspicion of theft. Unfortunately you do not live in the more favourable area and I fear this has certainly not been taken seriously enough. Everybody who is following Scarlett is sure she has been STOLEN. Shame on your local police for letting you and Scarlett down. Someone has Scarlett. If it were me (my own opinion) I would go and see a solicitor for some professional advice and to make an official complaint against the police. I'm unstoppable. Failing that I would go to No.10.... xx
Chattanooga
I have had no reponse from Grimsby Telegraph, but had a phone call from an Officer from the Police Liason Department. He explained that a CRN number will not be given as there is no evidence that she has been stolen. The reference number that I was given on 29/8/17 can still be referred to if any new evidence or sightings come to light. I am assured that this being the case the information will be acted upon just the same as if it were a crime number. All I can do now is hope that something comes to light in the not too distant future. Would like to thank the Doglost website and its volunteers for their help over the last 3 months.
Jane
Chattanooga - that is great news, absolutely brilliant. Scarlett is a very striking dog to look at, she could not be mistaken - plus you don't see English Pointers every day. Hopefully every English Pointer will come under scrutiny from the public soon. If someone has acquired a pointer quite recently be aware you could be looking at Scarlett! Running a story with nice clear pictures would be wonderful - Well done, I'm delighted xx Last edited: 2017-10-18 14:36:30 by Jane

Brilliant news.Im sure they will run it.You have worked tirelessly to get Scarlett home. You deserve some good luck .Lets hope it's soon Chattanooga.
Chattanooga
Jane, I have just this minute sent an email to Grimsby Telegraph asking them to print an article about our missing Scarlett. Lets hope they take me up on it.
Jane
Chattanooga - thats great we must keep this going - I almost feel...until my last breath. I say this again - someone knows where she is - they look at this site, it's an open site to the public. We'll find Scarlett...we want her home
Chattanooga
Following suggestions I have messaged Murphys Army and asked that Tracey Metcalfe asks the person who gave her the information originally to get in touch again and then that she contact Doglost with any further information she might have.
Jane
To EVERYONE who has been following this very sad and frustrating case - I am totally at a loss as to why the police refuses to issue a CRN - thank goodness I don't live in that area I would hate to have a missing dog. So many dogs are given CRN's on DogLost even if there is a mere suspicion of theft because it's on the rise. In my view the police should hang their heads in shame over this case. They are a disgrace and have let Scarlett and her owner down dreadfully. There MUST be somewhere else we can lobby to get justice for Scarlett...??? The Chief Constable of the area Scarlett was STOLEN from could be the next person - failing that the newspapers and make it public the disgraceful way this has been handled. Scarlett is family and worth fighting for - Scarlett is out there somewhere and we must do our utmost to get her home....I'm fuming....no apologises xxLast edited: 2017-10-17 20:30:53 by Jane
Eviebucket
Chattanooga,it must be so frustrating & heartbreaking to know someone holds the key to where your beautiful Scarlett is.This anonymous person must have cared enough to ring Murphys in the first place .Is there anyway a plea could be made by you to ask this person to ring again with this information .We all want Scarlett back home with you.x
nalamissing
I have had a response from Doglost, they are basically saying no chance of a CRN for Scarlett (which makes me wonder how Elfie and Huxley and Lottie got one? More sympathetic police force I guess). I think the owner should contact the person from Murphy's army and ask them to put out an appeal for the person who contacted them to get in touch again. Scarlett also needs to be shared widely on social media
Chattanooga
Thank you again everyone for your determined efforts. Woudn't it be a help if the person who contacted Murphys anonamously re: the sighting of Scarlett many weeks ago, were to come forward and explain what they saw and where they saw it. Also if they were certain that it was her that they saw. This would be a great help for us to know, and not be left up in the air wondering.
Jane
nalamissing - thank you so much for supporting beautiful Scarlett - there are suspicious circumstances in the way she went missing. I'm so pleased Chattanooga is getting the support over the theft of her dog. Everything crossed Scarlett gets the CRN she desperately needs. I'm sure DogLost can talk sense to the police. Thank you so much once again xx
nalamissing
In the meantime lots of shares on socila media needed to try and make Scarlett too hot to handle, believe doglost have a helper who will email all local businesses?
nalamissing
I also emailed doglost to ask if they could help owners. Have had a respionse to say CJ has been sent details. Just wondering if Sam and Loki were ever contacted (www.lostdogtracker.com) and tried to track Scarlett?
Jane
Skywalker99 - I have just emailed stolen@doglost.co.uk about dear Scarlett - fingers crossed xx
Jane
Skywalker99 - I feel so strongly about this dog - the police have been terrible. I will email DogLost and ask for help - this is shocking and the police should have acted on this months ago. I would go to the Chief of Police but I'm like a terrier and wouldn't let it go until I got my crime number
Skywalker99
ADMIN, has CJ had any contact with Lincs police on this? Jane, pls email stolen@doglost.co.uk to ask for help or ring them?
Jane
Skywalker99 - this has been a massive ordeal for Scarletts owner. The dog has had no definite sightings since she went missing. The police are useless. Can someone from DogLost please help this lovely lady who has been, in my view, treated terribly by the police. Someone please help. Thank you
Skywalker99
Has CJ been contacted to help with this at all? Doglost have succeeded with police forces where owners have failed. It would seem from last comment that there was reason to believe someone had Scarlett, so she needs to be made too hot to handle.Last edited: 2017-10-16 17:33:18 by Skywalker99
Chattanooga
I'm afraid trying to get a CRN is a no go. They just do not issue them to missing dogs. I don't think I will get anywhere with them and to be honest I am not a dogmatic type of person who can argue the point with them over the internet or phone. I shall just leave things as they are and perhaps in time news of Scarlett will surface somewhere and then perhaps the Police will then get themselves involved. In the meantime I do thank you for all your suggestions of help that you have given me. I still think she was at the location where the Police went into and that somehow she was managed to be hidden or secreted away.
Jane
Chattanooga - any news yet? I see other police forces are giving out CRN's even if there is a small chance of dog theft when a dog goes missing and not seen (as in Scarlets case) - check out other STOLEN dogs on DogLost. I'm sure there are a lot of people following this case on this site. We are all rooting for you and Scarlet xx
Jane
Chattanooga - good luck with this, if you don't have any response and action from the police I would certainly see a solicitor and take it all the way - The negative publicity over this theft would not do them any good and thats the last thing they would want - hopefully it won't get to that stage. Good luck, I'll be watching, like many others following this case of a STOLEN dog with much interest...xx
Chattanooga
Jane - I have taken what you say on board and have made an offical complaint to the IPCC. I have filled in their form giving all the details of Scarletts disappearance and the reluctance of Lincs Police to issue a CRN. I will let you know when they reply.
Jane
Chattanooga - so many CRN's are being issued by other police forces around the Country, see 'LOST' because the dogs have disappeared and never been seen and circumstantial evidence plays a part as well. The police in your area are treating Scarlets disappearance in a petty manner and really not taking it seriously - I would be fuming. Either make an official complaint yourself or get a Solicitor - this is completely not exceptable and I think you should receive an apology from the police about the way you've been treated over this crime...
Jane
Chattanooga - your dear Scarlet was clearly STOLEN. The police have done very little regarding your family members theft. I cannot for the life of me understand why the police haven't given you a CRN - I urge you to seriously consider making an official complaint to the police regarding this terrible crime...
DogLostSandra Watt
Suported and shared Scarlett's thunderclap - hope it brings some news.
Jane
Can everyone please copy and paste the link for the Thunderclap for Scarlet, the link is on Seeks last post on the thread - 2017-09-18. Thank you so much...xx
Chattanooga
Thank you Seeks and Jane for your determined efforts to find our Scarlett. It is so much appreciated by us. Have now seen the Thunderclap, thank you.
Seeks
Her Thunderclap just approved. Will get sharing and tweeting for her xx

Seeks
Chattanooga she should have it go live today. We called it 'Who has Scarlett Pointer' as she may very well be with someone else what ever the police say.

We put 10 days on it and we will get her as much support as we can as soon as its approved.

Like Jane said she is getting out there on Twitter and will go reshare her to today once the TC approves xx
Jane
Chattanooga - your girl is all over Twitter. Seeks will do the Thunderclap for you, don't worry. Bless you, we are helping all we can...xxLast edited: 2017-09-18 10:05:16 by Jane
Chattanooga
Seeks When will Thunderclap start?
Jane
CJ Police Liaison Co-Ordinator - Is there nothing you can do to convince the police Scarlet was STOLEN. There have been no positive sightings since her disappearance which indicates the dog was lifted from the carpark or thereabouts whilst the owners were looking for her. There is more evidence she has been STOLEN than LOST. This situation has gone on long enough. Other dogs are getting a CRN from different police constabularies and yet the police refuse to issue one for Scarlet. Ridiculous and outrageous. Other people reading this thread also agree 100% Scarlet was STOLEN...would really appreciate your help please x
Seeks
Sorry its taken me so long to see we have rubbish reception in Cornwall Jane & Chattanooga

I know its really hard as my own is stolen to.

As well as do her a Thunderclap will also reshare her to Pup's page begging for shares and will go tweet her again. Its horrible to keep going but all us owners are right there with each other all the way as we all know how hard it is.

You hang in there & just hope this nightmare will end soon for you xx

Tweeted and tagged in as many as it would let me do.... Will keep doing her I promise

Chattanooga - it's my pleasure. You have been served a huge injustice by the police...its the least I can do. Seeks will very kindly do the Thunderclap for you. If there is anything else I can do to help - please ask. All I want is Scarlet home with her family...xx
Chattanooga
Thank you Seeks and Jane for your continued help in this matter.
Jane
Seeks - thank you so so much for doing this - it's been a battle for Scarlets dear owner. Everything crossed for this...I can't thank you enough xxLast edited: 2017-09-16 18:23:16 by Jane

Chattanooga we been asked to put a Thunderclap in for you so willingly will do your beautiful girl one xx
Chattanooga
Thank you Jane = I appreciate all your help.
Jane
Chattanooga - when I get the link to your Thunderclap I will post it on here. It will go far and wide on Twitter xx
Jane
Chattanooga - go onto the web and look for Thunderclap, you will then be instructed on how to set this up. I have emailed someone that does them all the time but they have not answered me after 2 emails, but I will try again. This is an awful situation you're in. As there have been no definite sightings the police should not be looking at Scarlet being STOLEN. This is terrible and so much time has been lost because of this. I will get back to you...
Chattanooga
Police have been adamant that they do not class her as stolen without evidence How do I set up a Thunderclap for her? How do I take things further?
Jane
I see INDIGO has had status to STOLEN - Indigo was not seen to be STOLEN but the police in there area are looking at a crime. You are very, very unlucky to have the police force in your area. Had you been in Wiltshire I feel sure the Wiltshire Constabulary would have taken it more seriously (as they have done in the past) than the police in your area. MUST get a THUNDERCLAP set up for Scarlet. I have mentioned this to you a few times. Please get advice regarding this....If the police won't do anything you must go over their heads and take this further. Don't give up. With no definite sightings recently I think it's time to badger the police YET again for a CRN xxLast edited: 2017-09-14 14:23:49 by Jane

Can CJ help
Chattanooga
have been on phone to Lincs Police and they say there is no evidence of a crime being committed so therefore wil not give me a CRN. I have spoken to about 3 different Police officers and had to explain everything to each one of them. I am just going round in circles. They are adamant no crime has been committed.
DogLostCJ - Police Liaison & SE Regional Coordinator
I have emailed owner to explain as number is not yet a CRN but a CAD or incident number.
Chattanooga
Thank you ladies, didn't realise I needed to do that, but have informed admin@doglost now.
Jane
Chattanooga, Mary - yes please email the crime reference number, CRN to DogLost ASAP so Scarlets status can be changed to STOLEN. - I have already taken steps to Thunderclap your girl too xxLast edited: 2017-09-08 14:10:21 by Jane
Mary
Chattanooga - if you have been given a CRN (Crime Reference Number) email it to stolen@doglost.co.uk for the status to be upgraded to stolen.
Chattanooga
I have been given a reference number, is this the same?
Jane
I see Sussex Police have given the two missing dachshunds (mother and son) a CRN even after sightings. Now their status is STOLEN even without being seen to be STOLEN, and rightly so. I think you need to return to the police about Scarlet. This is now silly. The cold weather is coming in and pointers don't do well as you know when it's cold.I was told many years ago 'the squeakiest doors get oiled first' - i.e. keep going back, and back and back.
Eviebucket
Who ever is holding Scarlett & stopping her from coming home, either by holding / housing her this is a CRIMINAL OFFENCE .THEFT BY FINDING. PLEASE SHOW COMPASION SEND HER HOME.

Jane
Eviebucket - well said xx
Eviebucket
Please return Scarlet back home safely now where she belongs. She is now too hot to handle.Show compassion it's the only decent thing left for you to do.
Jane
...someone has got Scarlet and you know who you are. You are reading this now as this is an open forum for people who have lost their family. Do the right thing and give her back. Did you know you can get 7 years of imprisonment for dog theft...?? This dog is loved by her family, you are not her family...I really hope you get caught...

I think our dog has been at this place all along. In the days following her disappearance we spoke to a farmer who saw a black/white dog running across the fields in that area the day she went missing. My husband went to this kennel to enquire if anyone had seen her. They would not let him in and spoke to him through the gate saying they hadn't seen anything of her. I am suspicious that she has been moved on somewhere else, maybe their friends or relatives. Would like to thank you and your team for your efforts in this matter.
AlisonH
This lead has been followed up by the Louth police but sadly there was no sign of Scarlett.
Jane
CJ - Police Liaison Co-ordinator - On reflection of the latest news I hope this dog is returned swiftly using the information provided...there is not a moment to lose, speed is of the essence when all the details are in.

Hi Chattanooga, please ask the person who messaged you to email the info they have to admin@doglost.co.uk so it can be passed on to the co-ordinator dealing x
Chattanooga
Have just had a private message from someone at Murphys Army Charity asking that you get in touch with them as they have information as to the whereabouts of Scarlett. The ladys name is Tracey Metcalf. She says she has anonymous information about Scarletts whereabouts. She says I can have the location but says not to go on my own. Csn you contact her please?Last edited: 2017-08-29 18:12:10 by Chattanooga

Has local radio and newspapers been alerted yet?
DogLostCJ - Police Liaison & SE Regional Coordinator
Plans are ready to be put into action by local coordinator and helpers if further sightings are reported.
DogLostCJ - Police Liaison & SE Regional Coordinator
the info i have listed with the stats relates to scarlett as it was sent as an alert as there had been no sightings. They do not normally use the alerts for missing dogs but one officer did this in order to try and get a sighting which if the dog seen is Scarlett has proved a worthwhile exercise.
Chattanooga
Does his message from Lincs Police appertain to Scarlett or all mssing dogs?

DogLostJayne - Founder Doglost.
Well done lincs!
DogLostCJ - Police Liaison & SE Regional Coordinator
Message from Lincolnshire police re the message alert they sent out which resulted in calls of potential sightings.
Their system allows an officer to see when someone has retweeted the message the stats for this one are massive.....

Emails 2982 issued
Twitter retweets 395,228
Website hits – 1673
They have never had a message circulated so far and wide before!!

Such a coverage shows the police are doing all they can to help on this one.
Jane
Twittered again.
Jane
...I think I can speak for most - waiting with baited breath. Oh please let this be Scarlet she needs to be home with her family xx
AlisonH
The Lincs team are monitoring the situation and have plans in place should this turn out to be Scarlett or any other dog for that matter. Pauline is driving over there today in the hope that we get another sighting.
Jane
If indeed this is Scarlet, and I'm hoping with all my heart it is -
DogLostCJ - Police Liaison & SE Regional Coordinator
If these sightings are scarlette which is quite possible ( like Phoebe 117190) missing (8th July) in Warwickshire. We had nothing for weeks then sightings started to be reported. Since police sent out alerts they have had 2 calls. Not knowing much about this breed i have asked other coordinators - Thanks Christine for this input-Pointers are natural hunters most of whom have a strong prey drive....... her natural instincts will more than likely kick in and she will be very good at looking after herself and as long as she is not injured she would be able to travel big distances. I would think she could manage what has been described as long as she is not injured."
Thanks Owl for this input "from what I know a distance of 25-30 miles is nothing. They are top hunters and will only run into difficulty if game is short. Where they do get problems is with cold weather as their coats are not up to it"
lets hope for more sightings so that a pattern starts to emerge of her areas she is in.
Jane
I'm checking in all the time hoping for good news about Scarlet. Please let this be Scarlet...xx
DogLostSandra Watt
Chattanooga - since there seems to have been two sightings in Scopwick area, can you try and get some posters up there.

DogLostSandra Watt
Admin..reference CJ comments below..please can Scarlett be bumped due to possible sightings and extra alerts be sent to LN4..thanks.
Jane
I have everything crossed for this possible sighting....xx
Jane
Jenkins thank you and thank you from the owner of Scarlet. I still feel, even at this time the police should be contacted again fort a CRN. The right thing has not been done over this dog and on this occasion it needs fighting for. I know Wiltshire police are up to speed with dog theft and they will, and do give out CRN's. I have spoken to a retired MP via a friend and I am told, rightly or wrongly that MP's will only act from public within their own constituency. I will say again - there is strong circumstantial evidence that Scarlet was taken from the public car park. The local police force must WAKE UP to dog thefts from these such places. Thank you once again Jenkins
DogLostCJ - Police Liaison & SE Regional Coordinator
After alerts from police they had a call from a man who saw a pointer today in Scopwick.. Another caller rang in on 23 Aug stating a medium sized hound type dog was running in the same area around 9:10am.
B1188 Lincoln Road Scopwick heading towards Blankney. Asking for alerts in LN4 and bumping due to 2 sightings.
DogLostSandra Watt
Thanks CJ for taking the time to speak with Lincs Police. I agree with Jane. Whether Scarlett was taken by dog thieves or someone has kept her via "theft by finding" and not reporting to dog warden, the Police should issue a CRN. If she is not STOLEN, there should have some sightings by now. It is just so unfair that some Police forces support the distressed owners even without proven evidence and others will not.
Jane
There has been no sightings of the dog since the day she went missing. Circumstantial evidence is there that the dog was taken from the public car park. We know dog thieves operate from car parks, many thefts are attempted and if the opportunity is there they will take it. Their getaway is very swift. There is more evidence by circumstance she was taken than if the dog was LOST. This is a very public area and with dog theft a huge problem and growing all the time this case should be given a CRN. Look at all the other dogs that go missing from gardens etc. The theft is not witnessed but the local force issues a CRN. I fail, in my opinion, to see what the problem is here. Time is passing by on this dog and it really does need to be addressed. The poor owner, like every STOLEN/LOST dog is beside herself. I'm fighting for this dog as I personally think there is enough evidence for a CRN and the owner is not getting it...
DogLostCJ - Police Liaison & SE Regional Coordinator
Spoken to Lincs police who really need some proof to be able to list as stolen. they have resent out a link on message alerts.
MISSING DOG SCARLETT THE POINTER

Even with an earlier LincsAlert message being issued and the owners advertising locally that their female pointer SCARLETT has been missing since 9 July 2017, no information has been received as to where Scarlett might be.

Should someone have picked up Scarlett from the area where she was lost, (car park, Donna Nook, North Somercotes), this would be classed as THEFT BY FINDING by Lincolnshire Police and is a criminal offence.

We would like members of the public to report any neighbours who may have acquired a new dog or if you have seen any adverts selling her to come forward with information.

Scarlett may still be running free in the area but it is becoming more likely that she has been removed as no sightings have been made since 9th July.

You can ring information through on Tel: 101 or anonymously on CRIMESTOPPERS 0800 555 111

email received i will look at this tomorrow as cannot deal with this today.
Chattanooga
Hi Jekins, No I havn't, didn' know about it, thank you will give it a go.
DogLostSandra Watt
Chattanooga - have you emailed the Dog Lost Police Co-ordinator at stolen@doglost.co.uk to see if she can offer any help?
Chattanooga
Have ask'd them for your email address. Will email you when I get it.
Jane
If I can do anything to help I will, but I need a little more from you. I will only get one crack at this and must make sure I get everything correct and I don't want to make an error over Scarlets disappearance. DogLost has my email address as a volunteer. You have my permission to obtain that from them to contact me privately. When I have the details I will email your MP with the evidence, and there is possibly circumstantial evidence in this case...I have looked at the area on Google Maps and the car park. The area is vast as you know.Last edited: 2017-08-23 10:37:25 by Jane
Chattanooga
Have messaged doglost asking them to give you my name. Hope it helps. Thank you.
Jane
I have the email address for the MP. but I do not have your name and you cannot put it on here for security. I wonder if you could possibly do it via DogLost. I cannot approach if I don't have details or he won't know what I'm writing about if that makes sense. Yes, I am proactive and I will do this for you and for Scarlet..
Jane
If I thought it would do any good I certainly ring them myself but they would only say I'm not the complainant in the matter. Maybe they would listen to DogLost and start to take things seriously about dog theft being out of control. I also think many of the dogs that are registered as LOST as actually STOLEN as the owners didn't see the thieves advertise themselves in the act!! I can't say how sorry I am over Scarlet. I can understand how frustrated and bereft you must feel. Could you take this matter further than Martin Vickers office? If I can think of anything else I'll let you know. I'm so sorry
Chattanooga
David, at Martin Vickers office phoned me yesterday to say he had been in touch the police in Louth and confirmed what he had told me previously, that without evidence of the dog being lifted, CCTV evidence or someone seeing her being put into a vehicle, that there was no evidence of her being stolen and therefore could not issue a crime number. I'm afraid I shan't be going there again unless something positive comes up as I feel I am knocking my head against a brick wall.If you are so adamant about your feelings in this matter maybe you might like to speak to the police in louth and get their reasons for not issuing a crime number. I don't know what else to say except thank you for trying to help me in this matter.

Chattanooga - this situation is a nightmare. The police should be looking at circumstantial evidence of Scarlets disappearance. Just saying there is no evidence of her being STOLEN is not good enough. If they looked at the evidence you have, i.e. Scarlet has disappeared off the face of the earth PLUS you were in a public area where dog walkers are common etc. Dog thieves are everywhere, they wait for their chance and it's so quick. The chances are she would have gone back to the car park whilst you were looking for her and dog theft if rife everywhere. Just because there were no witnesses of her being STOLEN it doesn't mean a crime was not committed. If she had got LOST someone would have spotted her. I think she went back to the car park and she was lifted from there. There is more evidence that she was STOLEN than she wasn't. Circumstantial evidence. There are many, many dogs on this site that obtain CRN's and the theft was never witnessed, just a suspicion. I think you are very un lucky to have the police in your area that quite frankly are not interested, whereas other in areas they treat is as a crime - dog theft is increasing and out of control. I would go to the very top with this - Scarlet is family and you must be like a dog with a bone. I'm so sorry about this, I've had pointers so they have a special place in my heart too. I'm so annoyed over this. Someone does know where she is...xx
Chattanooga
Hi Jane Have just been on phone to a gentleman, David, in Martin Vickers office. Have explained the situation to him re: Scarlet and the Police not gving me a crime number. He has told me that if there is no CCTV evidence or evidence of her being taken or bundled into a vehicle then the Police will not give a crime number but will deem her missing by running away. They only give one where there is evidence of a crime being committed in case there are repocussions with any court case that might ensue. However, he is going to write to Louth Police Station (although it is not in his constituancy) to find out if they have given crime numbers for missing pets in other circumstances. He says he will keep me updated with their response.
Jane
Any news re Thunderclap?
Jane
Great, lets get this going....x
Chattanooga
Jane Have emailed Martin Vickers, just waiting for his response.
Jane
Can someone please set up a 'Thunderclap' for Scarlet as I see on the thread this hasn't been done as yet? Thanks everyone
Jane
Chattanooga, please go to your local MP and explain the police refuse to act over this. Dog theft has increased so much over the last couple of years, you know this already. As I have said it depends on the local police if they take it seriously enough. I'm so sorry you are finding this so difficult with your local police. Have you approached the newspapers, many are very sympathetic and do take dog theft seriously and would be willing to run a story. This has gone on far too long. I check in a few times a day like many supporters on DogLost. There are things that I won't mention on this site re Scarlett as it's 'open'. I'm just so very, very sorry for you and Scarlett's family. I really do feel your pain and frustration over this. Thank you everyone else who have been supportive on DL x
Chattanooga
Have tried to do as you have suggested. Rang Louth Police station and explained everything to them. Told they havn't given out crime numbers for the last two or three yearsfor lost or stolen dogs, they gave up because there were far too many lost dogs and they don't give incident numbers. Told to go on Lincolnshire website to report her missing on lost and found. Have tried to do that but can't find a lost and found section. Doing my head in, Police don't seem to want to help. Wonder how others have got on with their missing pets.

Chattanooga - please do as Skywalker99 has advised - this has, as I explained gone on far too long as LOST and no sightings whatsoever. People get CRN's even when dogs go missing from their gardens etc WITHOUT witnessing being STOLEN. I think also it depends on the police force. You must pursue this with purpose now. She's out there and someone knows exactly where she is...good luck xxLast edited: 2017-08-13 20:43:03 by Jane
Skywalker99
ADMIN, can CJ help?
Skywalker99
Please email stolen@doglost.co.uk, they should be able to help you with the police. Does seem strange, no sightings
Chattanooga
I did contact the Police in Louth and explained the circumstances in which she went missing. I told them there had been no sightings at all and that we believed that she was stolen in the car park. Because we thought that originally she had run off they were not prepared to accept that she had possibly been stolen especially as there were no witnesses or CCTV. Couldn't convince them of my fears.
Jane
I think this dog was STOLEN - maybe not directly but possibly found and sold on. There are many dogs on here that get a CRN from the police even when the theft has not even been witnessed. It has been left long enough, too long. My thoughts
AlisonH
Thank you for clarifying that Chattanooga. We are still looking for Scarlett please stay positive she is out there somewhere.
Chattanooga
The dog seen in Doncaster is not Scarlett. She is only 10 months old, this dog is much older and the markings are not the same.

Have alerted Alison the Lincolnshire coordinator.

Could the emaciated dog seen wandering in the dog found list today be Scarlett?
Chattanooga
Hi Jane - No proof at all she was stolen although we strongly suspect she has been picked up by someone after she went missing. Another Pointer found wandering in Mablethorpe but I believe he has got separated from his owners who are on holiday. so they should be reunited soon.
Jane
Checking in a few times a day, as a lot of people are following Scarlett. I gather there is no proof at all that she is STOLEN and she is still LOST. Twittered again for your girl...
Chattanooga
Thank you Bristoe1, we are aware of this poor dog in Doncaster but it is not Scarlett. We hope he is caught quickly and returned to his owners.
Bristoe1
There are some posts on Facebook about a stray black and white pointer-looking dog on Facebook, seen I think near Doncaster, posted to Doncaster Pets Lost and found Facebook page...I have screenshotted the picture from FB but can't work out how to post here? My geography is awful so apologies if im way off. Hope you find her xxx
Eviebucket
We are all heartbroken for you & we look at this site so many times a day hoping
you have Scarlett home where she belongs.
Couple of years ago Two Boxers were stolen from Skegnes. The owners contacted Look North & every possible news alerts. This made the dogs too hot to handle & they were found dumped in Nottingham.
Please don't give up hope .Somebody out there knows where Scarlett is.
Chattanooga
Contacted Gary this morning who doesn't hold out much hope of Scarlett being anywhere in the area. Tells me he isn't allowed to fly his drone in the area of Donna Nook because of the bombing range. He feels because she hasn,t been seen that she has probably been stolen. Thank you again for trying to help, it is much
appreciated.
Paulshapointer
Did you contact the man with the Drone...he did say on Thursday no-one had been in touch! I have spoken to a lot of people to keep an eye open for Scarlett, and so has my husband, lots of people have mention to him about keeping an eye out for an English Pointer so word is out. As not many people have seen her, I to think she has been taken in, maybe by a holidaymaker, I used to own an English Pointer dog, and i can see that a friendly pointer walking up to someone and falling madly in love and not thinking just taking her with them. Please don't lose hope, if she has been taken by a holidaymaker they normally come back to our area year after year and she maybe seen in a few months if they come back. All I can say is if someone does spot her, I have a chip reader as I micro chip dogs and can check with a quick swipe if needed. Many people are from west Lincolnshire and Yorkshire mainly it might be worth you notifying vets to keep a look out if a new pointer comes into the surgery. Most vets will just scan for chips and dont check to see if lost or stolen.
Don't lose hope, i will keep looking for her as I live so close xxx
Jane
I read you loud and clear thats why I said to contact DogLost as I knew you would be good with advice...excellent. Fingers crossed it's good news soon
AlisonH
We have a very good helper called Pauline who is helping with this. The police are not being uncooperative they are correct, there is no proof she has been stolen. As there have been no sighting she may well have been picked up by someone but without a proof we just have to keep on searching and digging for clues. I have spoken to Pauline this morning and she is doing all she can but there are some things that cannot be discussed on here.Last edited: 2017-07-22 13:49:37 by AlisonH
Jane
I'm speechless to be honest. I understand some police forces will act and some are not interested. Please, PLEASE contact DogLost for advice on this. From her total disappearance and what you describe I believe it is very possible, as you say whilst you were looking for her she went back to the carpark and she was possibly taken. I know there are people on DogLost that will help. I'm so sorry you come up against a brick wall with the police.
Chattanooga
Jane Because we now believe Scarlett to have been stolen I contacted Louth Police Station today. After explaining the circumstances of her disappearance I was told there was no evidence of her being stolen. No amount of arguing the point with them would change their mind. They say she has just run off and is missing. So I can't provide a CRN number. We have been checking all the sales sites and I have previously contacted local radio and newspaper.
Eviebucket
Have you appealed on our local radio or our local news papers.
Someone. out might have seen something or know someone with a new
dog like Scarlett.
Hope she is found soon.
Jane
It would make sense that happened. As it's a dog walking area there are dog thieves that will take any opportunity to steal dogs at popular sites. Please report Scarlett STOLEN to the police asap. Contact DogLost and give them the CRN number so Scarlett can be changed to STOLEN. Scarlett is out there, we've just got to find her. Have you been checking Gumtree, Preloved and other selling sites? I will keep sharing until she is found. Thinking of you x
Chattanooga
Thank you for checking in Jane. We are seriously thinking she was stolen from the car park whilst we were searching along the coastline.
Jane
Twittered again. I check in a few times every day hoping for good news. As there have been no sightings is there a possibility she's been stolen?

Hi Sally No, there have been no sightings or news at all. We have put a reward notice up now, but still there is no response. Thank you for your concern. We live in hopes.
sallybee
Have there been any further 'local' sightings at all? With so many people here in the village walking their dogs at the coast,I can ask them to watch out for her if it's relevant? We were so hoping she would have been found by now and safely back home.
Chattanooga
Thank you Jane
Jane
Twittered again - I wish you a swift capture :o) xx

So grateful to you sallybee. Traps sound a good idea Nina, thank you. Will contact Paulshapointer re: drone. Thank you all.

If we know for certain that Scarlett is returning to the area then of course we can set a trap up for her....
sallybee
Well that is encouraging news Scarletts mum - our legs are whipped from walking corn fields here! Can DL put up their trap if it looks like she is returning to that area?
Paulshapointer
I know someone in Theddlethorpe Village who is a master with a drone thought it may cover the area quicker than on foot. let me know shazzynpaul@aol.com
Chattanooga
Thank you Sally for your suggestions. Have been at Donna Nook most of the day with a lady and her tracker dog. she says Scarlett keeps going back there and is confident we will get her back.
sallybee
Was really hoping for some good news by now. This weekend North Coates Flying Club have a big weekend planned - their light aircraft are always flying overhead so can you get posters and or message to them to ask and see if they can help with their 'eyes in the skies'?? "Horse Shoe Point" car park - next stop north of Donna Nook - can you get a poster up in their car park? A lot flatter there and easier to spot things with your binoculars. Fingers crossed she is found soon.
Chattanooga

Thank you Sallybee for your continued efforts. We left posters at caraven sites and garage/shop in Saltfleet yesterday and handed them out to general public. We put a couple up in the car park at Donna Nook. Hoping to go down again tomorrow with some more posters.
DogLostNina
Try and get posters into schools and colleges before they break for summer
sallybee
Hubby and I have just returned and sorry to say no sign of Scarlett. We've been from Donna Nook to Saltfleet and back to the village - asked local people out dog walking to keep their eyes open and pass any information on. Come on girl show yourself.
sallybee
Has anyone got posters up in the villages from Tetney down to Saltfleet? All local traffic use the A1031 especially if heading to Donna Nook so the post offices, shops, fish and chip shops etc - posters may be helpful? Have the details been passed to Lincolnshire Police Alerts as their emails about lost dogs are frequent and useful? If she ran in the Mablethorpe direction, has Sunnydale Holiday Park been advised, and local farms?
Jane

I walk on the dunes at Crookbank and Brickyard Lane in Theddlethorpe, I was out today and didn't see any dogs that could be your Pointer. I will be back tomorrow and from my back garden I can see the carpark at Theddlethorpe Dunes. I have also added her to my facebook page. Hopefully someone will find her xxx

MESSAGE FROM OWNER:- 10th July

If anyone is in the North Somercotes area and could help look for Scarlet, the 10 month old black/white Pointer puppy who went missing yesterday from Donna Nook Car Park, David and his friend Ken are now on their way back to Donna Nook Car Park and should arrive about 12 noon. If anyone else decides to go there they are in a white Peugot van Reg: FY10ZGS. All help much appreciated. Last edited: 2017-07-10 11:41:55 by VetsGetScanning

We walked in both directions, both towards Cleethorpes and then towards Mablethorpe. Another dog walker saw her come over the top of the sand dune and head towards Mablethorpe but he wasn't near enough to be able to catch her. Re: the circumstances of her disappearance. All I can tell you is she went over the sand dune at the side of the footpath alongside the car park with her dad Hugo and when David called them back, only Hugo appeared. By the time he got to the top of the dune she had gone missing. I hope this is of help. Thank you.
AlisonH
Chattanooga were you walking towards Mablethorpe or the other direction towards Cleethorpes?
Jane
Please could you answer the question about how she went missing.Last edited: 2017-07-10 11:51:11 by AlisonH
Chattanooga
David and another gentleman searched the rabbit holes and dunes. She went missing as we were on the footpath leading from the car park. She ran up the sand dune at the side of the path with her dad, David whistled and called them back. Hugo came back but she didn't,by the time he got to the top of the dune she had completely disappeared which we couldn't understand as the area is so open and flat. I hav e contacted the warden at Donna Nook and he is keeping an eye out for her.
sallybee
With so many dunes and rabbits down there could she have ran off and is anyone searching? The answer to an earlier question from Jane about how she went missing would be useful. Contact the control tower at Donna Nook if manoeuvres are due today it will be manned.

Sorry to see that SCARLETT is missing.
  • If your dog is microchipped please let the microchip company know that your dog is missing and check that all details are up to date.
  • Owners targeted by a malicious hoaxer demanding money for the return of their dog should phone the police on 101 immediately and contact admin@doglost.co.uk
  • A photograph of your dog is essential for the website. If you have not already uploaded one, please do so by clicking on Update details. Alternatively you can email it to admin@doglost.co.uk quoting the dog's DogLost ID number: (117269)
  • Obtain a missing poster by clicking on View poster above. Posters are very important so start postering now!
  • You will need to be logged in to upload photos, edit your dog's details, or add comments. You can add comments by clicking on Click here to add a comment.
  • Contact dog wardens, vets and local rescue centres, and in Scotland, the Police. Give a detailed description with any distinguishing marks/scars or send them a copy of your DogLost poster. You can find vets in your area here.
  • If your dog has been stolen inform the police immediately and obtain a crime reference number (CRN). Send an email to stolen@doglost.co.uk.
  • If your dog is picked up and taken to rescue kennels, it can be legally re-homed after seven days. Visit rescue centres in person and do not rely on checking by phone alone. Other people may not recognise your dog by your description, so give them a DogLost poster.
  • Keep us updated by keeping your dog's page up to date and check for posts from helpers who may have suggestions and possible matches or sightings
  • DogLost is free and anyone asking for money to find or return your dog is not volunteering for us. If you are concerned about an approach you have received, please email admin@doglost.co.uk
