Thanks Patsy and all, will be posters for a while yet to be removed I expect as usual. weloveyoumolly no idea about news story, but from experience we know they print what sells the paper. I hope it wasn't bad stuff? Can you help us if not already (I know you watch the site) alert others to Sooty? Only down the road to you again sadly. Love to Molly and all. Lovely happy reunion pic! Took down more posters today in Leatherhead (owner's laminated ones in town centre, Hawks Hill, by station, by Running Horse pub near river). Also one I forgot up by Princes Covert's cottages in the woods - lady in cottage thrilled to hear the good news and sends her best wishes. The press did seem in early 2007 to be at last getting on the case - if you go to the Telegraph website and put into the search box a load of stories come up, eg [ http://tinyurl.com/2y4ybx ] and this one with ref to Henley : [ http://tinyurl.com/ywtucb ] but nothing has changed! The police problem is only going to get worse, as the Govt in its wisdom has now taken responsibility in this area away from the police and given it to local councils. See [ http://tinyurl.com/2395bl ] this will mean very little area cover when DWs are off duty esp at nights and weekends - which is when most dogs go missing. So even if your dog IS stolen for hard it will be harder to interest the police. Press pressure is vital and also everyone MUST lobby their local district councillor about providing cover for missing dogs. I think if Jayne could put this in the news section more people might see it and lobby those in power. Sorry to hijack Mollie's thread! PS don't forget the petition to ban Puppy Farms on the govt petition site closes this week!!Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Hae to disappoint you ladies, but I only took down posters at the Tesco garage at Leatherhead - the store ones had already been taken down. But nice thought anyway!! Or maybe I had so many hats and scarves and dog-clothes on, they thought I was a child under all that camouflage. Took down some more posters down tracks behind Star pub/Rushett Farm etc today. Also saw some laminated owner's posters near Barwell Farm area on main road, but couldn't stop as in a hurry - maybe Molly's family could take those down please? Also, update please on how Molly is doing! Px Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Took down posters round Pachesham this evening - also at Leatherhead Tesco garage (staff v. pleased to hear she is home). Thanks also for police kennel info Sue - when one of my own dogs went missing a couple of years ago, I was told they had a small holding kennel at Dorking and also at Ripley, as well as Reigate. Patsy quite a few still have a kennel or (s), but it will depend on which day of the week the dog is taken in. If its at the end of the week then more likely to be moved to a permanant kennel like Treetops. Guildford only had one spare last time I was there and according to Pete this is now closed so they go directly to Treetops. Also will depend on availability of a dog warden. If its a contractor in the area I am not sure if they do 24 hour call out, suspect not. Invariably if I get to hear of a dog out on its own weekend or night times I'll take it in and sort it next day. Happily if they are chipped they can go back home same day. Not sure about kennels this end, will try and find out. Pete if you look in maybe you can update or put me right? Ali, we had people up there at the weekend looking for another. Its just that chance poster that does it, so if someone says shall I, I always say yes please - you never know! Sue xLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

So pleased to see Molly is back. Talking to customer services in Tesco (someone beat me to it to remove poster) and they said that dogs picked up in reigate area are taken to kennels in Dorking but I don't know which one. I did put up a poster in Walton on the hill last week. I didn't expect her to end up there though.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Have been thinking about this. Molly's story reminds us all how important it is to make sure microchip contact details are kept up to date. Also it shows how little communication there seems to be between local police stations and how we must in future make sure every individual local police station has a poster delivered to their front desk asap and that all our local missing dogs should be reported to Reigate Polce Station, which is the main one where found dogs get taken as they have their own holding kennels. (Not sure which other stations have their own kennels these days - Sue, do you know?). Anyway, the main thing is that Molly is safe. Sleep well tonight, Molly's family. Now we need to help get Pippin RH home . . . PxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

OK, Molly was found by a kind lady on Sunday, up at Walton on the Hill. She kept her overnight and fed her, then took her to Epsom who scanned her apparently. Owners details were muddled somehow so she was transfered to the Reigate DW. By chance the same lady saw a poster in Leatherhead for Molly and rang owners on the off chance the dog she had picked up could have been Molly. Owner chased up the Police and DW and the rest is history as they say. Molly has sore feet and claws worn, so has been wandering for a while we suspect. We know it was probably the posters doing there stuff and making her too hot to handle, so they dumped her. She is so happy to be home, chatting to her mate at home barking and howling. Wish we knew what she was saying!! So some very happy people in that family tonight and we have yet more helpers staying with us to help other owners. Stay safe now Molly. Don't forget to take down the posters helpers. Happy days. Sue xLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

We don't really know much about what happened to her all we really know is that she was found wondering around reigate and a woman handed her into epsom police station where they tryd to contact us because they scanned her microchip but they kept phoning our old number rather than our new one she'd been in there since Sunday. The woman who found her saw one of our posters in leatherhead and they phoned my dad saying she'd handed in a collie cross. so my dad phoned the police station and she was there. so we got molly home!!!!!!!!!!!! =] thankyou all for everythingLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Friend of a friend knows someone at Radio Mercury, they refuse to put out messages about lost dogs but might be able to get a reporter to do a story "if there is a story" I would have thought having your dog grabbed and bundled into a van by three ******* was a pretty awful story, waiting to hear back a contact name or number. I really don't know what local radio is for if not to cover incidents such as this.......Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Just a thought - Molly's owners - have you taken a drive around to see if there is any new fencing in your area and asked in any pubs if there were a group of Irish men drinking on the night she went missing??? If there is new fencing they might know the company involved which might jog the memory of the witness and the pub might have a bit more information as to what these three look like...Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

We did do Hook on Friday/Saturday last week but you are right, perhaps they need to be re-positioned. Just so you all know, look on the Surrey Comet website - there is a peice about Molly/dognappers on there. Many thanks for all your help and support.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Patsy saw the posters earlier, well done. Bus stops have also been done, but can see room for more so will get some done tomorrow. Layby's both sides of the Leatherhead by pass have food vans and worth also getting posters too if anyone having a snack break. weloveyoumolly I have sent you a personal message (pm), please check your account. Hook Road needs doing or did? Bridge Road also, as they are major cut throughs. Sue xLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

That was meant to read Champion Fencing in Malden Rushett - Challenge is at Cobham/Downside. They could do with a poster too (cosmicveggie, if you are passing by?). In fact, any trade timber/fencing yard that these guys might use should have a poster at the trade counter. Will keep on postering . . . come on other KT ladies, let's get posters up FAST! Postered for Molly this aftenoon at Malden Rushett as follows: outside The Star pub, cottages and b&b, inside the pub by the bar, all along the track leading to d'Abernon Chase/Princes Coverts cottages/Crown woods etc. Outside Rushett Farm and Byhurst Farm. Went into Byhurst Farm and spoke to nice people there who think they know Molly's owners and will put her poster up in their horse/pet feed shop and keep a look-out. Also postered near Malden Rushett crossroads opposite Challenge Fencing yard (and took down a Yiftaki poster!). PxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Sorry to be picky but the poster is not clear as to the van description - it makes it sound like it's a silver van for a fencing company, not a small white one as in the post earlier... Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Police are involved and helping owner on this. Van small white. Molly seems to have jumped the garden fence after a fox, and they are very vocal at the moment as we know. Mollie then seen by eye witness who saw van pull up and a guy with strong Irish accent who said the dog was his and put Mollie in the van. This happened in Leatherhead Road near to Chessington World of Adventures people, so we need to start with that as the centre of postering area. Owner visiting lots of travellers sites with posters and has received calls. Unfortunately they are from the sado's we know, using owners grief as a way to obtain lots of money by deceit. Usual threats of what they will do to the dog etc. Owner is strong and so if any of them are looking in, you are wasting your time. Owner now aware of these types. I have emailed dog wardens for MVDC, Epsom to pass onto their contractors, Elmbridge again to do the same, Kingston also done. Epsom police on the case, as CCTV has been found. But they are slow as we know. Battersea also aware. Please note that Molly is chipped! She has i.d. tag also with owners mobile. Come on locals helpers lets get this girl home. I've passed this on to Nikki (ECR) her offices are on the Industrial Estate in Chessington and she will put up posters, the sandwich van there is a good place for catching the eye of visitors. Agree with Annie is there any more info. re where this happened, appearance of the van etc. ?Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Going to a dog class in Oxshott, will take some posters. Hope she is found soon, there are a lot of 'travellers' in our area, they like their terriers. Will keep my fingers crossed & will do what I can on friday if she has not re-appeared, which I hope she does! KatiaLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

is there any other information on the van? was the van silver or it was carrying silver fencing? or was it a scrap metal van with silver fencing on it? how do we know they are irish? where was Mollie when she was taken? what time of day?... it would all help to be able to keep a look out for the van as a starter...
