OOh, that is great.
We use a GPS tracker on the collar as ours is prone to sudden leaps of enthusiasm (fortunately not far and not for long) - it really helps with peace of mind and overcoming the panicked chasing-after-the-dog instinct.

Yes Polly was fortunately found
Stay safe Polly x

Good advice John & agree 'Swindon Team Polly' went above & beyond for her (& her sister Petra lost in similar circumstances) also suggest looking up 'Turid Rugaas Calming signals' :-)Last edited: 2019-08-16 10:18:46 by Reynard

Reunited - well done Chris!

She didn't go far - took up residence in someone's garden and allowed herself to be captured. A positive legacy of the textbook trust building done by the Swindon volunteers last time she escaped.

Suggest using a harness with a waist band attached to a belt plus a slip lead and a tracker.
caring4rescuedexstreetdogs.home.blog/2019/01/06/non-slip-harness/

Dogs have clear and escalating body language, starting with calming signals, which shows their anxiety level -

Trudy Gardner - "This little dog was seen running past the Elms by a visitor to our home in Holt this morning at about 10am. She had been caught by someone two driveways up from the bungalows there on the street according to my visitor. Hope she’s home soon x"

"Two driveways up from The Elms on the street -Opposite Firlawn nursing home. I am sorry we thought nothing more of it as she had been caught, my visitor was soaked as it was pouring with rain at the time x"

Given that Chris and Leash of Life posted her missing some time after this I guess she escaped them, which isn't surprising, just need to know if she still has lead and harness on, so would be good to trace the person involved.Last edited: 2019-08-14 17:35:10 by Administrator

I know Holt well, there's lot's of places to hide. Attractive places are -
Cereal Partners breakfast cereal factory at Staverton (smells, 24hr ops so lit at night, medium busy road)
https://www.google.com/maps/@51.3471961,-2.2082386,3a,90y,69.44h,91.76t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1seL1oT86KUMKhHHsDnANQSQ!2e0!7i13312!8i6656
Box Steam Brewery micro brewery (smells?)
Glove factory - disused being redeveloped (lots of unused buildings, quiet)
https://www.google.com/maps/@51.3567607,-2.2008931,3a,90y,312.73h,86t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1srJOLIB9SMArJewAfcJDtaw!2e0!7i13312!8i6656
Stables - West Wilts Riding centre etc (previously settled at a stable, alongside a medium busy 60mph road)
https://www.google.com/maps/@51.3628466,-2.1806138,3a,90y,215.69h,93.46t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1sckmd0Zj0zLA9BofQeBjZeA!2e0!7i13312!8i6656

History -
This is Polly's third escape.
When she first escaped from the edge of Swindon, she settled quickly at a stables next to a dual carriageway 900m away and was hand captured after a 5 days by her fosterer with help from the dog wardens.
When she escaped the second time from a residential area within Swindon, she settled 500m away next to a dual carriageway in a fringe of woods between a lake, houses and a 24hr Royal Mail distribution centre. She was caught after about a month using a bin store as an area trap.

Lost from The Walk, I'm guessing the village centre end, given that a lorry scared her -

Send DoxDirect Polly's DogLost poster and they'll send 50 free posters delivered next day -

Questions -
Which way did she run ?
How many times has she been walked in the area, which walks ?
Is she still scared of the dark ?

Messaged -
Cereal Partners factory, Staverton
West Wilts Riding Centre

From Polly's facebook page
"Polly is missing.
She has been spooked by a lorry and the lead slipped from fosters grasp so she is still trailing her lead.
On past history, once Polly calms down she is unlikely to go far.
She is missing from the village of Holt...BA14 6PU
It is imperative that if you see Polly you do NOT chase or call her. We need her to stay in the village and as this is such a nervous dog she will be easily scared and run off.
If sighted please message us or ring Sharon on 07776301298 or Chris on 07803565233"Last edited: 2019-08-14 15:20:54 by Reynard

Polly was caught tonight after nearly a month at her favourite feeding station.
Thanks to Claire & Mandy & many other Ladies & Mike who were in a shift of daily feeders.
We all hope Polly will go on to better things now & be adopted when she is ready.
Stay safe Polly no more adventures please !
DogLostReynard
Regular sightings in Liden, Polly is much less scared & she looks forward to her daily feeds of Chicken & Sausages & is out in 5 mins once her food goes down, she loves her safe area & after eating her fill was seen playing with a spare sausage, dive bombing it & doing a merry dance around it, so funny. Polly also loves to roll on the grass & sunbath. She is a very special little girl & we the Volunteer feeding gang are looking forward to seeing her back on her sofa at home xLast edited: 2019-05-23 21:28:57 by Reynard

All paws xd that Polly will be found safe soon...thoughts are with fosterer and all those helping to get this little lady home x
BUBBLES
Walked around Liden Lagoon this morning at 6.30, met a lady called Cathy was also out looking, at the far end of the lake behind the bungalows is some very overgrown areas difficult to walk through as most now thigh high. Noisy from traffic but a safe hiding place. Will keep walking and looking

Swindon dog wardens had been assisting Polly's fosterer they had seen Polly close by & very nearly had her after having terrific patience & skill sitting in a field for two days! Polly is such a nervous little dog but eventualy late yesterday handed over to Fosterer & today she caught her about 1/2 an hour ago!

Very well done team Polly xLast edited: 2019-02-23 19:45:26 by Reynard

Possible sighting again last night in village of Blunsdon.
If her she is not wearing harness or lead anymore, Hooray
So good news she is still in the area & not far at all from home.
She still hasn't actually gone right up to her home as not seen on Camera so something may be preventing her Foster does not know why other than quite a lot of activity in the road near by,
Foster is very active & putting up 50+ posters today.

Canine Capture have been ask to help by the rescue.
