been to the vetall wounds are superficial and the limp will heal.So no long term damage. He has been bathed , deflead and wormed and today we saw his playful side coming back.He seems a lot more relaxed and is fine with the kids.I have taken him to the beach a few times but kept him on a lead as due to the bite marks im not sure what he has been through and how he will react but he met a good few dogs and a couple were playfully jumping all over him, pleased to report he was great, not his usual playful self but he didnt react aggressively at allLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

So absolutely great that Prince is finally reunited with his loved ones, but I'm sitting here gutted having read Nicola's story, and discovering what Prince and Nicola have been through.   I'm lost for words when I think about what a rotten lot of people we have on this planet;  and he may have been bought "in good faith" (I agree with what Nicola has to say about this) but dogs' actions don't lie, and very clearly Prince has been ill-treated, and he won't forget this in a hurry.   Well done Nicola, this could not have been easy, but we do it for our dogs - rotten people of the world, sit up and take note.   Welcome home Prince, you will be alright now, lovely boy xxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

We were not going to take no for an answer this time and sure enough they began screaming and shouting and swearing telling us to get out but we refused.I told them I knew my dog was there ,i told them the name of the woman the name they had now called Prince ,the price they paid for it and the fact that she and the landlord had split up and she and the dog no longer lived there. This caused a silence but they still were not giving him up.They began again but this time so did we .The police were callled and the situation calmed down >the officer spoke to the pub and they told him they had no idea where the dog was .The officer told us to leave as the pub did not know where the dog was.My other half asked him how he knew that  and just because they said it it wasnt true.So he asked them for the womans phone no and called her.Sure enough she admitted having a dog she had bought in good faith (yea right ,you buy a pedigree from a homeless alcoholic for ?50!) We went to the police station and there was Prince!!He has a few bite marks and is limping he has lost weight but he seems ok and we will sort him out.He flinches if anyone raises a hand so we think he has been hit but he will be ok back with us.He is VERY happy to be home and we will be going to the vet today .Thank you all for your support .Keep trying if your dog is lost.you WILL get it back if you keep trying,DONT GIVE UP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Hey all!!!! WoW how happy am I!!!This is a VERY short version of what happened. We recieved a call from the secound wave of Yarmouth postering from a guy who knew the person who took my dog.He told us Prince had been sold to  pub in the yarmouth area, off st peters road so we went to all the pubs but got very sidelined.I called the guy back and he told me it was a female landlord he sold it too so we found out how many females were landladies and went there. We had to get quite irrate and it turned out not to be the pub but she at this time gave us information of a pub not far away that had a white staff but without the patch. We attended the pub but it was closed so we waited 2 hrs for it to open. When it opened we asked about the dog. They totally denied any knowlege of the dog so we  returned to the first pub where luckily a patron was drinking who usually drank in the other pub and told us they had had a dog like mine named patch who had been sold to the landlords wife. They also told us the landlord and she had split up so she was no longer there. So back we went to the pub and this time I took 6 bikers with me as they had been quite aggresive with us the first time. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Trouble is with emails they dont all have time to open them, and some have no printer, so its best to take one in or send by snail mail. I have a feeling the race course car boot has finished for the winter too It may be worth a try though I have been out most of the day postering mainly parks etc. I have stopped a few dog walkers and asked if they had seen Prince and to keep a look out for him The area where he was last sighted is so busy someone must have seen him!! I didn't make it over to the bus station in Gt Yarmouth as there are major road works and it would have taken me over an hour to get there and I felt the time would be better spent searching the area where he was seen  Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

That was the idea ruthann with the boot sale - just our luck, it was the last one of the season. Closed now. I still think going to others would be worth it as people that like boot fairs usualy go to one or two at least. Also the stall holders go to different markets and they should all be given posters to put in their vans in case they see Prince on another pitch. I did suggest this to Nicola and still think its worth doing, plus hundreds of flyers can be given out to people at boot fairs. They come from all over.  Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

it might be worth having a word with the milk man on the mag estate as he is on there every day its dairy crest my brother in law has only been off this round about 4 months its a pity he was not still on it as he had been doing it for 30 years so would have been a good source of information, has the mag estate been postered if not let me know Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

POSTED BY NICOLA :- Thanks helen!! You may well see some pics of prince already up but the more the better.I still think something is not quite right but i have spoken to the police and the dog wardem again and it seems this investigation ends here but i will be scouring the magdelene estate where he was supposedly seen.I am back to square one and i am going to start all over again, all the same places will be postered and flyers given out,I will take another add out in the paper and ask the radio to put another appeal on.I am heartbroken and frustrated as well as exhasted but I cant just give up on Him,thank you all so much for the support,i hope we have a fairy tale ending x  Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Unfortunately it looks like we are back to square one. The dog handed in to vets was not identified as being Prince. We now believe the last positive sighting of Prince was at Gorleston, tagged onto a man. Obviously Nicola is broken hearted. If there really are any helpers in the area who are reading this, but not coming forward to help, please do so. Post on here if you would like flyers emailed to you. We really need Prince home now. If there is anything at all you can do we would be very grateful. He is such a lovely boy. Thanks.  Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

We wont know anything more until tomorrow now. The police are being very co-operative and helpful. They are photographing the dog that these people have, and will show the photos to Nicola tomorrow. Nicola has also got the support of the guy who found Prince straying, and took him to the vets. This guy is going to the police station with Nicola tomorrow. Cannot tell you any more than that at the moment, but there seems to be something not right here. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Text messages back and forth at the mo. Dont want to block the phone as Nicola obviously needs it free for the police. The people are claiming the dog is theirs and they have had it for two years, but even the dog warden is saying it is under two years old. Seems they havn't found a chip, or the gun is not reading the chip, but police obviously dont beleive them as seems they are allowing Nicola to ID the dog. Trouble is it may be tomorrow, and it will be at the station. Hope they dont do a bunk ! Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Thanks for your text Nicola. We are with you all the way, and I shall be waiting for news. You soooooo deserve to get Prince back. You have done a brilliant job with all tasks I gave you, and we all know it is far too much work to do in just seven days, as this is all the time we have before dogs can be re-homed, or pts ! It is task enough just printing and puting the posters up. And I am so sorry you had to endure the heartache of knowing the other little dog was put down vertually as you were speaking to them. I'm also glad you will be staying on as helper. With your first hand knowledge, of just how bad this situation is, we welcome you, and you will be an asset in your area. I am praying it is your lovely Prince, and that you will be re-united today. Good Luck Nicola xxx Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Wow !!! Have just read your last posts, so have all my fingers and toes crossed for you. I presume they are taking a picture of your dog with them ? I know it sounds daft, but you never know ! I think you are doing the right thing by hassling them, they need to keep going round if the people are out today. Good luck x

Hi ,latest on Prince!!!! I had a sighting from a woman who saw the new posters .She gave me the vague whereabouts of a man she saw with a dog that looked like Prince.I knocked on the doors until I found him.He had found a dog walking around the day after the reported sighting of him getting off the bus with the man from lowestoft. He tried to find the owner but was unsuccesful so he took him to the vet.I went to the vets who had scanned the dog (I now believe Princes chip has migrated)and found no chip(they only scanned his neck)He was given to the Yarmouth dog warden who had already been informed about Prince!! The warden told me the dog he had picked up was a staffie/boxer cross, indeed id had a conversation with him regarding this dog a week before but due to him saying it was a cross he was disgarded from my search.I returned to the man who found the dog with yet more pictures of Prince,he was quite adamant it was the same dog and the dog he took to the vets was full staff!!! I rang the woman who called originally and she too stated the dog was a full staff and looked just like the poster.I called the warden with the man who found the dog next to me and he confirmed to the warden that the dog he took to the vets looked just like mine and was full staff. The warden refused to disclose the name and address of the people who claimed the dog so I contacted Lowestoft police who, after realising I would be calling on the hour every hour decieded to act. The address was disclosed but due to it being in another area the case had to be passed to Norfolk police. It took 3 calls to them for them to even check the fax.Today they are going to the address so i have all my paperwork and pictures of Prince ready to prove ownership although i told the police the reaction of him will be enough for anyone to realise hes my baby.So i'm being very patient and forcing myself to wait until 10 am until i begin calling norfolk police on the hour every hour.I am praying this is prince and i'm anxious and excited at the same time. I will update hopefully later today  with hopefully with a picture of us being reunited.Once again my thanks go out to the guys on this site who have been a godsend of advice and action.Dont give up out there!!!!! i have found a lot of incompetance and have seen if you want your dog back you are going to have to work very hard and mistrust what the so called professionals tell you,One dog who resembled prince was put to sleep dispite me having spoken to the kennels  3 times!!!!!!! They didnt inform me at all they had a dog that may be mine there!! So please look yourself check everywhere personally !! what the guys on this site say about the kennels and wardens is completly true I have found that  out during my search for Prince. If this dog is not Prince my search will be intensified I will not give up and him and I am going to find him!!!! There is now a distinct possibility that Prince is in the Yarmouth area. A dog resembling him is known to be in the area. If anyone could help with postering vets, pet shops, and animal food stores, general dog walking areas, markets, boot fairs etc this weekend, it would be a brilliant help. Have spoken to Nicola and she's been very busy putting posters up, visiting and phoning Rescues, Vets, etc. and putting the word around everywhere. Apparently Prince followed a chap onto a bus on Sun not sure if this was 5th or 12th, and ths man was heard saying 'It's not my dog'.  She's going to call about a white/brown Staffie at West End Kennels but we think this could be a girl.  I hope she's getting posters up in pubs as this is where dogs are often sold.  Also need them up at car boot sales and all local events.  Good luck in your search, we're sure Prince will be home soon. xLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

In past experience we have put them on lamp posts and railings outside, where they tie their dogs, and the posters did stay there for months actualy, so good suggestion. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

How about trying to get a poster up in Social Services Benefits offices?  Not sure if they'll allow this but worth a try.  Keep safe till we find you Prince. xxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Nicola just off on her way, have suggested she gets posters up at all the caravan sites there, coastguards, bus stns, rail stns, cabbies etc.  She's going to ask around Yarmouth & Gorleston where the man was headed, and also try to find the driver of the bus he was on. If you come back without him Nicola, give posters/flyers to posties and ask them to put up in sorting offices too, milkmen, binmen, newspaper men, schools (children v observant), dock workers, crane operators, etc.  Also supermarkets (nr drinks counter if poss!), off-licences, etc. If Prince is with you mr. man please contact local dog warden and tell them his owner is looking for him or call us on 0844 800 3220.  Thank you! Nicola has had a phone call with a real good lead. A man saw Prince going up to a scruffy looking guy and following him onto a bus that went to Gorleston on the Sunday morning he went missing. The guy who Prince attached himself to , is known to be from the Yarmouth area so Nicola is going to poster there immediately. She is thrilled with the posters Jan. One of us will update later. That's great well done Nicholla, keeping the pressure up will be what brings Prince home.  There's a small rehoming kennel at Wrentham worth sending his poster to, they are v helpful: Iris & James Waddington 01502 675257.  Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Thanks Jimi !! have been speaking to Nicholla and have emailed information through, re- rescue centres, pounds etc, but also sent scenting guidlines, and suggested she scent around the house and back along the walk to the beach, which he would probably have gone on. Nicholla has done a top class job with postering - really good effort, and is keeping the pressure up. There were two sightings of Prince on the day he took off, and they were in camp Rd, and near the station. Nothing since. Neighbours have been fantastic and put posters intheir windows, and cars, and are giving a lot of support. Hopefuly someone will spot Prince soon. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Second photo received and uploaded. Probably better for identification. Microchip company has been informed Prince is missing. Tag from collar has been found, but may have fallen off. Pubs in the area have been postered. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Mobile phone photo now received and uploaded. Owner was on holiday when Prince got out from home. His carer did not see him behind her as she put the bins out. Owner is distraught and just wants Prince home. They have put posters up, informed dog warden, pounds, police and vets, and are searching every day but nothing. They have had it announced on the radio and there is an advert going into the paper. Another search party planned for very early, daybreak tomorrow morning. Owner is convinced someone has him as no news. Pounds have been telling her not to ring any more as they will contact her if he comes in. Trouble is we know this doesn't always happen. Have arranged to call owner tonight at home. But she will not be home until late. Will have a chat then. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Sorry to hear Prince has gone missing but thank goodness he is microchipped. Please can you send a photo of him to admin@doglost.co.uk . Once photo is on site you can print off his poster by clicking on to Dog Poster 1 at the top of this page but you must be logged in to do this. Get posters put up all around the area he went missing and send copies to all vets and rescue centres. Don't rely on his microchip as not all rescue centres or vets scan dogs when they pass through. It is best to visit rescue centres every day if possible. Don't forget to inform the dog warden. Hope you find him soon.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18
