Gemma - so sorry both both your cats have gone missing strangely one year apart. I assume you have tried just about everything but this is information that may help

Check all outbuildings including empty houses, and cellars THOROUGHLY as some cats will hide in or behind an object within especially if timid. Cats can stay very still, and quiet in certain circumstances. They are renowned for it. Bear in mind too that cats have very flexible spines which rotates, so they can squeeze into very small spaces (About 2"/3" wide 7/7.5cm) So has he managed to climb into a partially opened window, and is now trapped? Exit can be difficult; depends on the drop. Check trees; any deckings too. Empty contents of the hoover onto the garden as his scent will be his; litter tray contents too. PLEASE DO NOT leave the litter box/tray out as other cats may use it, and it could confuse, and upset the cat. Put some tuna/sardines or chicken in his dish, and call him; night/early morning is best. Rattle some treats too. (Just because you can`t see a cat, it doesn`t mean they aren`t around) Place his UNWASHED blanket into a clean container along with your scent too. Leave in the garden in a sheltered spot, or hang on the washing line if dry; used towels too. Wipe his scent on your garden fences, gates, doors too; anything leading up to the garden. Try a squeaky toy as it may attract his attention. Take a good walk around the area, holding an object with his scent on, and rattle some Dreamies, someone maybe feeding his. (Common problem). When it`s nightfall, and you are searching use a strong torch as the light will reflect a cats eyes. Poster around the area, and post flyers through doors too. If possible post in shops; post offices too. And is there a dominant cat in the area? As sometimes they will chase a less confident cat out of their own territory. And the chased cat will not return until they think it`s "Safe" enough for them to do so. Post a LOST CAT ad in a National newspaper in case he has climbed into a vehicle. which isn`t that uncommon for cats to do. Poster as much as you can nearby (these can be printed from Dog Lost). • Obtain a missing poster by clicking on View poster above. Posters are very important so start postering now!

• Contact dog wardens, vets and local rescue centres, and in Scotland, the Police. Give a detailed description with any distinguishing marks/scars or send them a copy of your DogLost poster. You can find vets in your area here.
• If your dog has been stolen inform the police immediately and obtain a crime reference number (CRN). Send an email to stolen@doglost.co.uk.
• If your dog is picked up and taken to rescue kennels, it can be legally re-homed after seven days. Visit rescue centres in person and do not rely on checking by phone alone. Other people may not recognise your dog by your description, so give them a DogLost poster.
• Keep us updated by keeping your dog's page up to date and check for posts from helpers who may have suggestions and possible matches or sightings
