CROSS POSTED UPDATE:

BERNIE HAS BEEN FOUND...💔
Sadly not the outcome every one wanted, he’s gone to 🌈 rainbow bridge. 🥲
But the family now have closure, and he’s safe now.
Devastating news I know, and a big shock, but the family would like to thank every single person, who spent hours searching, sharing the posts, supporting the family with messages and calls.
RIP Bernie, a very much loved little boy 💙💔

CROSS POSTED UPDATE by Sue:

One week on...STILL MISSING!

Let’s just refresh the day Bernie went missing,as a last attempt to see have we missed anything....
A week ago today, Bernie went missing, vanished into thin air!
He’s 19 years old, so time and age are not on his side.
I think it’s safe to say the family jumped in very very quickly, with every possible help and resource they could. They covered every way to find him over the first few hours.
We just don’t really know what we are searching for though, are we looking for a little dog stuck very near the location he was lost? Are we looking for a dog that’s run for the hills? And if so which way? Are we searching for a dog trying to get home, and still on the run? Or has he fallen in the canal or a ditch within minutes of being lost?
Bernie was being cared for by John, and his two children, while the owner was in hospital, who is johns mum. He’s stayed many times with them, and been off the lead on the moss many times. Johns wife is self isolating away from home , after a hospital procedure, so can’t help look or care for the children.
So this has been a very difficult week, all on John and his sister, to search for Bernie, and care for the children and poorly family members.
So please don’t think every hour or resource hasn’t been covered, by many people.
John took his son and their own dog, and Bernie, put up Pitt’s house lane, past the farm and over the bridge, where the dogs were then let off immediately after the bridge. John and his son then walked along the canal bank, for about 50 yards, the dogs running behind. When John turned around, Bernie had vanished.
He searched then and there for an hour and a half.
Has he fallen in the canal,? has he run to the woods,? has he turned back and gone back down the lane,? is he stuck in a rabbit hole?
John, myself, his sister, and many local people in the area, searched all these possibilities.
The drone has been up a good few times, a boat been up by moss lane, a tracker dog been to the area, a food trail left, a scarf of the owner out there, camera put up in the woods, posters put up, botanic gardens searched, around his own home searched, Meols hall searched....Still not one sighting!
So PLEASE...keep the post live, share as much as possible, just someone may of seen him. Thanku xxx

Thanks Bo, the family, Search Team and SAR have been doing extensive searches of the area. Dogs being trapped in undergrowth is always a worry. JACK the BC was recently found after days and was trapped in deep undergrowth.

janiejewel1649 a dog has been used to help in the search but never picked anything up.
Bo
He is old and frail, he is likely in a location which he can’t manage to get out of himself. Ditches being the likely obstacle. An old GSD saved yesterday having bolted Friday night , elderly owner utterly bereft. A very positive young woman determined to find the dog accessed the opposite side of a ditch and managed to see her. She had been likely there since Friday night and thankfully survived the ordeal although extremely cold obviously. My point is, check every single ditch from both sides.

BERNIE 🐕💙
UPDATE....
On behalf of Bernies family, who I’ve been in close contact constantly this last week, they would like to pass on a message.
This week has been a rollercoaster of emotions and family trauma, a very difficult and emotional time.
The public following of Bernie disappearing has been amazing, hundreds of people joined in, even today my other half saw so people out on the moss searching.
No words to thank you all for that unselfish kindness, and all the many hours you have all spent searching.
But for their mental and physical well being, they are asking for people to scale down the search.
This is not they are giving up the hope of finding him, not at all, or praying he is found, or giving up on him, but the messages and phone calls are exhausting, so very much going on they are struggling to deal with, it’s been a draining and consuming emotional week all round for them all, they just can’t keep the pace up.
They are completely overwhelmed with the help, and so very very grateful, they couldn’t of got through the week without the help and kindness. But they need to step back a little to deal with this and other things privately and quietly. Gather themselves together. They have children very much distressed and need some quiet time with them.
So please, by all means anybody wanting to still search, that would be wonderful, any one out dog walking, please stay vigilant he may be out there somewhere. Any roads in that area, moss lane, churchtown, or crowland st way, botanic gardens , Preston new rd, please still check each day he isn’t around your area.
But without a sighting, we have covered every inch many many times, the family feel for now we need to wait and see if he shows himself.
They really do want to thank everyone single person who has helped in any way, for now though we just need to wait and hope someone somewhere sees him.
Thankyou all ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Keep the posts alive, but pm me if needing any more info, or sightings, we need to let the family have some breathing space xxx
