Debbie, I am so very sorry that Merlin didn't make it home. You obviously worked so hard to get him back. Please take some comfort that he will have many new friends to play with at Rainbow Bridge. Take care, Alison xLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I am so sorry to hear this terrible news. Scaling a fence to get away is not untypical of the breed. You were so near and yet so far. My condolences. Sylv xLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

It is with great sadness I have to report that despite owners and warden managing to get within grasping distance of Merlin last night, he was so scared that he scaled a 6 foot garden fence to evade capture, a few hours later Merlin was involved in a fatal RTA, The dogwarden alerted owners to his whereabouts and they were able to collect his body and bring him home to say goodbye properly.  I am absolutely distraught for his owners who worked so hard to get him home. Rest in peace dear Merlin, my thoughts are with his owners today    Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Thank you all for your help and support. We came very close to catching Merlin in Longwick yesterday, 4 sightings and was cornered by the animal warden but went over a 6 ft fence and got away. Very sadly he was knocked down by a car at 7.30pm last night and died. We will miss him so much.

I've just got back from Princes Risborough but no sign of Merlin I'm afraid. The chippy was very busy, so I wondered if they would be worth asking to display a poster for you and anywhere else that attracts people from outside the area as well as locals, such as Blockbuster or Tesco?Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

My son works weekends in a pub at Lacey Green so he will take some posters with him to display there tonight. I will keep my eyes open for Merlin when I drop my son off this evening and will also give some posters to my mum so that she can ask her neighbours to look out for him if they go in to Princes Risborough. Would suggest owners contact vets in Aylesbury and High Wycombe incase he's been picked up and taken that way.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Owners have been sent this information but for local helpers who wish to know it is Kennels 01844 342016 Macabee at LongwickLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

The kennels at Longwick is Maccabee, I cant see their number in the phone book, its in Barr Lane. The RSPCA charity shop in Princes Risborough will probably have their number, so will Sprinz and Nash.LindaT helperLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Have you tried Stokenchurch Dog Rescue? 01494 482695, Chiltern Dog Rescue 01442 876008, Wycombe Dog Warden 01494 421734, Sprinz & Nash Vets in Princes Risborough 01844 345655. I think there are some kennels at Longwick which are used by the dog warden, but I can't remember what they're called. My mum and brother live at Bledlow Ridge and often pop in to Princes Risborough so I'll ask them to keep their eyes open. Hope he's home soon xLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

many thanks LindaT for your help, please put posters any where you think it can help. There is a reward available so I hope that someone finds him. Have been out looking for him and putting posters out in the area.

Hi Merlins owner, I will put a poster at Lodge Hill, Bledlow, on the Ridgeway Path later today, and Longdown car park at Cadsden tomorrow, Saturday, also at Bradenham at the weekend. I live in Chinnor but walk my dog all over the local chilterns, so will keep look out and poster where I can. Good Luck,  LindaT, helperLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Would it be possible for him to work at the gate till it opened? Just thinking there were sporadic fireworks from 5pm here and probably there and having owned two rough collies, they go bonkers at the slightest whiff of one.  Rough collies can get very uptight and go for flight. love Sylv xLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Owner, sorry to see Merlin is missing, we will do all we can to help you in your search.   Can you upload a photo or email to admin@doglost.co.uk (QUOTE ID 16447) a.s.a.p. any problems with a photo let us know.  Similar Photo/s uploaded until we receive one of Merlin.  You need to poster poster poster the area as much as possible and make him TOO HOT TO HANDLE, we cannot stress enough the importance of the postering.  Posters can be printed by selecting Dog Poster 1 just above Dog Information (you must be registered and logged in). Contact DW's, rescues, vets and leave a poster (you can find vets in the area by clicking on the logo right hand side just underneath Latest Missing photo).  Dogs can be rehomed after 7 days, try and visit rescues do not rely on phone calls alone.  Great that he has been CHIPPED please make sure you contact the Chip Co and report him missing/stolen and your details are up to date.   If he has been STOLEN you must get a CRIME NO. from the Police. Please update us on the circumstances of how he has gone missing, is it from home or on a walk, where is the area?   Can you also let us know who has been contacted i.e. DW's etc and if you have started postering.  You can leave a comment by selecting  Add a comment  just above Comments.  Good luck and hope he is found soon.  Jan xLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18
