The phone number 07872 569449 is no longer valid. Owner now lives in France but phone 2 is good. 07779 080866. Just spoken to owner, the found dog isn't hers. Markings on feet don't match Marleys.

Sorry to get any hopes up, I am pretty sure this isn't Marley (due to colour of front legs) but just incase here is a found rough collie:

I am so sorry that Marley is still missing. As he has such distinctive markings on his face do you think one of the national newspapers like the mirror or sun would do a story if you pleaded with them ? Someone would be sure to recognise him. Julie x

Tri c ollie that was dumped is definately not Marley. Owner of Marley knows that we will all keep on looking for him, one day maybe!
helentrindall
I had a look at the pictures posted on Monday morning and honestly couldn't rule ths dog out, the only thing putting me off was the chip being registered in Ireland. I had the RSPCA as work on Monday morning so I asked the question about chips being removed/replaced, they said that it wasn't un-common for a dog to be chipped twice but only on chip showing up. So I called the kennel and asked them to find out when the chip was registered.....if it was years ago then it can't be Marley, however if it has registered since 28th Sept 2009, then I need to see the dog to rule him out, as being Marley. I am still waiting for a call back from the kennels, and they are waiting for an email back from Ireland.

Any news please? I'm so hoping this is Marley.

Thanks Ashmark this has already been checked out, I have also posted on the found dog which I registered on DL. Last night after putting the found dog on a helpers Facebook page (who is looking out for Marley) the response was overwhelming, a lot of people started posting thinking it was Marley. When I put him on FB I did say the marking are different. The search goes on for Marley. Good luck. Jan x

That sounds interesting and a possible good lead. Any sight of the dog at the supermarket? I was wondering if all the postering there might have scared the people with the dog off? Might be an idea to check all the supermarkets in the area in case they've switched. shopping destinations

We have spend another day in Catcliffe, but still no sign of the dog seen.  I plan to spend tomorrow sitting in Morrision's cafe (with a view to getting some work done), and looking out the window waiting for this rough collie to turn up. We spoke to a few dog walkers to day and gave them all posters.  I'm going to get onto Hallam FM tomorrow (early) to try and get on the breakfast show, will also ask them to mention Cry (20708) if I can. I would be careful when confronting someone with your dog. If there is any trouble at all call the police and insist they attend. As he is microchipped you can soon prove to them he is your dog. Good luck xLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

We have spent the afternoon postering at Morrison's and the Catcliffe area of Sheffield.  Spoke the the security guard at Morrison's who has also seen the dog that looks similar to Marley a few time this week tied up outside the shop.  He has taken my number and will ring if he sees it again. We will be back there tomorrow, and if the weather is better take Star and do the dog walking area's. HelenLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Two sightings this week one of which is very credible which came via Kate in Sheffield, of Marley being in the same area of Sheffield.  We are going to blitz the area this weekend with Marley posters and talk to people, so see if we can find out where this dog is living (as he has been seen with people).  I think this is the most positive lead we have had since he went missing, and really hope this is it!!!! Have you considered having someone - preferably a heavyweight hiding, say in a car and looking unrelated  when you put the posters up? When the person comes to pull them down, bingo, your friend can either follow them or use a good rugby tackle.
That's what I would do. Stake them out.

Posters being taken down is a good indication that someone has him and doesn't want him to be found. Keep on replacing the posters and make him TOO HOT TO HANDLE. Try asking the local radio station to put out an appeal and keep his profile high.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

We have heard nothing - We are now begining to think that someone has got him.  And someone is taking the posters down as quick as we put them up.  Just bought some cable ties and started laminating them, I don't think this will stop them, but it will make it a little harder for them. We are meeting at the new car park on the Dearne/Station Road near the new Golf Course and pedestrian crossing at 12.00pm.  Please email me if you are thining about helping out as this might be another angle to get the newspapers to do a story.  If enough people come I can ask the local press to send a photographer.  Local Community help in Search of Missing Dog -you know the type of thing. Marley ran away while on a his walk on the 28th Sept, we have put up around 1000 posters in our area, we have also asked the local radio station to ask listeners to keep an eye out for him, in addition to placing an ad 2 weeks running in the local free paper.  Dispite all of this we have had no confirmed sighting.  We are out looking daily as well as all other dog walkers in the area keeping an eye out for him.  We have been advised by Collie Rescue that he will more than likey stay near water, so we are concerntrating on looking for him around the nearby lakes and river. I have also contacted all of the Dog Wardens and their kennels within a 40 mile radius of where we live.  I don't know what else we can do!!!Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I see Marley's posted twice. You say he was lost on a walk. It is vital you keep returning to the spot he went missing because it's likely he will return there. Ask the doglost team for advice on scenting. They are experts and give you a lot of sound advice that's brought many a dog back to its owner.

What a stunner. How did he go missing? His outstanding looks will certainly assist his return. Praying for a quick reunion. Sadly too far away to help in Kent, but eyes are always open for our lost dogs in case they come through the county
