rannoch - who are you!!
Her family (Cathy) should have my details - we have never stopped keeping an eye out for her. I stop and talk to every dog that I think looks a bit like her and each time there has been her breeding line in the dog I have met so I am now pretty good at recognising the breed even I never met Glory.
Angela bought one of the dogs down that was similar to Glory (Katie) so this helped.

Please dont forget Glory, she must be somewhere and her return would bring more happiness than can be imagined to her family

Update from Sheila; the Breeders (Angela)'s friend:

1. Doric Kennels and Cattery Cholderton 01980 629507; it is possible she could be nearby, as only a mile or two as crow flies, and noise of dogs at feeding time.
Anyhow Brian and Jenny who run the place, will go onto Dog Lost, print off poster, and diplay in their reception area.
Brian said that they get a lot of Army customers. They will also spread word around, also keep in mind anyone who has fairly recently acquired Border Collie. In case
some kind person took her in thinking they were doing a good deed.

2. Thruxton Aerodrome Thruxton 01264 773900; Lady there said that she will pass word around staff and customers. Their situation is such that they would have a
clear view if she ran across the Aifield. I asked if Pilots etc could look out when flying over the area fro any dog without person. Left Angelas telephone no for contact details
She is a dog owner, has seen the poster at the bus stop, will spread the word, and amongst dog walking friends, that she is still missing.

3. The George Inn Thruxton 01264 772480. I spoke to Katie there, who is also a Dog owner. Took down the details, and of doglost site. Their chef comes from East Cholderton. She will
spread the word amongst the staff and regulars, again gave a contact telephone number for any information re sightings.

4. Hampshsire Libraries 01329 225391. Amanda there will contact Mobile Library 2 which travels around the area where Glory went missing. Give them the information re Glory, told her
where to download poster. She will ask the drivers to look out for Glory, and speak to the locals passing word around and gathering information. Will bear in mind Poss some kind person
taking her in etc.....Amanda is another dog owner, and definately on board.

5. Church of St Peter and Paul, Cholderton 01329 225391. No reply, so left message on answerphone re Glory similar to all those above. left Angela's tel no.

6. Cholderton Farm Shop Cholderton 01980 629894. Spoke to another dog owner and formerly owner of a Border Collie, very sympathetic. Will pass the word around staff and customers
and put up notice.

All above I have told that she has been missing since 18 Dec, and we are still looking. Told them that Angela has travelled dwn twice from Suffolk to search, and people more local are doing same.

As mentioned it was determined that the "sightings" of a black and white collie related to a local collie that's back garden opened onto churchill Ave/rd where the sightings had been reported. Angela actually saw the dog on her way to meet me, jumped out the car and saw where it dashed back through a hedge, jumped and fence then went back to its own house. We went together and spoke to the owner who says yes his dog often gets out and goes up and down the road, hence we stopped the search as the sightings in Bulford had only been in this road. On a positive note at least in the bad weather Angela was able to return home in daylight.
Spindle
Really disappointed as the sighted collie has now been traced to an owner in the area seen. The dog is often out and running around and it seems this is the dog everyone has seen. Will let Sammie update more when she comes on here. Big thank you to Samme and to Karen. Lets just keep on looking till we find her.

Salisbury journal are putting Glory in and hopefully will get some more help from Andover Advertiser. Very possible she has been taken in as so friendly with people and dogs, she has to be somewhere. Thank you Samiie for all you are doing.
Sammie
Just a note to say this weekend I put up posters in Scats, Pets at Home, Pet shop in the garden centre, local pet shop in town & left a poster through the local shop in Grateley. Will keep trying! x
Sammie
Thanks to Majorjet and Spindle who sent me word documents.
This morning i went to both vets in Tidworth to make sure they were still aware Glory was missing.
I drove back via Kimpton Down and put some posters up there, in Quarley and Amport. Later i went back with my partner and we walked close to Amport Woods (on marked footpaths as lots of strict private signs about). When I have my partner with me we try and walk more isolated areas in the villages in the area she went missing.
Tonight with the word document I emailed the Hawk Conservancy which is very close by and has lots of visitors, and I have been trying for hours to get a contact for a Range Warden? I don't know the MOD areas but i was told there are Range Wardens (and huts) out on the Range all the time. I found one email contact and have sent a speclative email to them in hope it will reach a warden but if anyone does know a proper MOD contact please let me know. Will have to reposter when I get some laminated copies from the dog warden and I will have to go and buy some plastic wallets too as the weather is already taking its toll on the posters I put up last week. (New to all this so didn't ahve them in the first place!).
Spindle
thanks Majorjet (Jan) both Sammie and Karen helpers have the posters in word, also e mailed to dog warden. Sammies been really busy today, thank you so much. Will let her update here later.

Sammie, I will sort a word doc poster out and email it to you a.s.a.p. I've cropped and updated the photo. Hope Glory is found soon and we see her back home. Good luck. x
Sammie
The local Dog Warden said to the owner of Haydown that he would laminate some posters for us. I had emailed him a few days ago but as I had not heard anything back I phoned the council and managed to speak to him today but he wanted the poster as an attachment. I thought this would be easy to "save as PDF" but cannot see any way of doing it! I have tried to copy it into a word document but the formats are lost. Does anyone know how to do this or can Dog lost email me something to pass on? If not I will have to mock one up myself so we can laminate as the weather is changing and the posters will be ruined that we have put up already.
One thing the warden did say is that a dog went ferral for about 5 months in the Andover area and turned up about 5 months later on a farm within 2 miles of where it went missing. I wonder if all the farms have been contacted in the area and also the local stables?
Sammie
Hi, Karen I found your web site but not your facebook page but will keep looking!
Today I went back to Haydown there was one particular area I wanted to look at with the owner (won't post here as I know Cathy gets crank calls) but when I mentioned the place the owner was concerned too as he hadn't checked it but she wasn't I went into Andover and personnally went into the vets. The main two vets both had A4 posters up so I told them she was still missing and the smaller vets, lesser known vets, didn't have a poster (so I left one there) but did seem to know. I will try and look out the contact details for this vet in Tidworth.
DogLostCounty Pet ServicesKaren - Solstices Missing Dogs and Wiltshire volunteer
Hi Sammie, I didn't realise East Cholderton was so far from Cholderton!! Stonehenge vets have a poster and Amesbury, Stonehenge vets have another branch in Tidworth on the road where Tesco's is, it would be worth putting one up there. A friend of mine works at Thruxton race circuit so I will ask him to put a poster up there too, and I have a friend in Kimpton so will ask them to put one up at the village hall. Fingers crossed. Sammie if you need to contact me you can get no. of my website: WWW.CountyPetServices.co.uk or off the County Pet Services facebook page.
Spindle
Thank you Sammie and Karen for all you are doing for Glory.I have sent out lots of e mails to golf clubs, schools, companies and I'm sure Cathie has phoned loads also. Spoke to dogs trust I have now posted them a copy of her poster to display. Will find out what the next plan is.
Sammie
My post at 12.48 posted twice so reusing this space - its actually 16.49.
I went and rewalked the route I did with Angela on Friday and put wide clear selotape round the posters to try and keep them up.
I also put posters up near dog walks, and / or bus shelters / notice boards in the surronding villages of Monxton, Amport, Thruxton, Kimpton. I took one to the petrol station in Tidworth but they weren't sure if they were allowed to put it up. I drove to Bulford but I do not know this area at all so I wrapped my last poster around a byway sign! I will go the vets in Andover in the next few days to double check they have posters.
From where she went missing it is less than 1/2 mile along the village road to carry straight on UNDER the A303 into Thruxton. Aparently one dog walker I spoke to today said dogs often turned up on the edge of the plain that go missing from this area, but I can't validate this. So I think what Karen has suggested re the local radio for that area and the Salisbury Journal would be worth doing.Last edited: 2012-01-15 17:00:58 by Sammie
Sammie
Hi karen, Cholderton and East Cholderton are two completely different areas, not sure if you know? Cholderton is where the dogs trust is and East Cholderton is next to Thruxton and Amport! Confusing!! Which Vets have posters? I know there is a Vets in Tidworth but don't know where, I could go round the Andover Vets to double check they know. Spindle has my phone number if you want to get hold of me at all.
When Angela was down she went to the kennals and spoke with them. Spindle has also spoken with Lains.
I think I will go out that way again today and make sure the posters are still up and put some up in Thruxton. Sam
DogLostCounty Pet ServicesKaren - Solstices Missing Dogs and Wiltshire volunteer
Hi, I had put posters up in Bulford, Bulford camp and Andover also the local vet, but was told that Cholderton had been Postered by the gent who was looking after the dog. I put the post on facebook about the dog found in Andover but this was not Glory and has been reunited with it's owner. I was told that an advert had been put on Garrison FM radio which is in Bulford barracks but I listen to it every day and have heard no mention of Glory!! The paper that reaches Durrington, Bulford and Bulford camp is the Salisbury journal and the salisbury free paper. I am a dog walker and cover Bulford everyday but have never seen Glory, Cathie did you check the kennels where the hounds are?. I out walking everyday and have asked every dog walker I see about Glory in my area and made them aware she is missing and have given them my number as I could be there in 10mins if there is a sighting, fingers crossed x Karen - County Pet Services
Jan
I am very surprised that are not more posters out. Would it be worth me trying to get some details in national newspaper and radio. I know Angela is very concerned and cannot think of anything else to help her.
Spindle
thanks Sammie will check with Cathie about media. Thanks for following up andover dog, we have to follow everything, even if little as thats all we have at the moment.
Sammie
I checked the Salisbury Journal today and there is no "lost" advert for her. I checked the classified bit under dogs and I checked the dedicated dog page where they do also have a listing for lost pets but not mention of Glory.
I have been asking friends to ask friend via my FB page of any sightings of lost dogs, especially anyone that might live Bulford / Tidworth way. Someone I don't know has put that "someone" found a dog in Andover so I am trying to find out more information about this. Sam
Spindle
Sammie, I believe there is more articles coming out soon in the media. I will contact you.
Sammie
Spindle, there was a box advert in the free paper on Wednesday but I think it only gets delivered in central Andover. It is also in todays main paper that you have to buy. But this paper doesn't go as far as Bulford ( not sure what paper is circulated there). She is on the "lost pets" page of the local radio station web site but I never heard any annocements. Not saying there wasn't any but I listed to the radio when i wake up and we have it on at work and I don't recall anything. Again this station only does Hants not Wilts where Bulford is. What was shocking is that the next door neighbour didn't even know. If there are any sightings and I am not in work I will try and go to that area if its fairly close and of course if she is found she can stay with me till someone responsible collects her.
I am a bit new at this, having only registered as a helper a few days ago, is there any "reading" I should do or know about as a helper?
ALMGILLESPIE
Hi, Cathie here! Many thanks Sammie for all your help today. I am rather surprised you saying no one knew about a dog missing as she has been mentioned on all local radio and has appeared in one of the newspapers as the add was put in by mums friend Sheila - madness!
Spindle
Thank you for helping Anglea Sammie. Wihtout posters up no one in local area will know she is missing.!!! Believe she is going to be in a paper, will double check and find out when and what one. Have given Cathie all details.
Sammie
I spent the morning with Angela in the area Glory went missing. Saw tons of dog walkers outside the property and not one knew about a missing dog, no posters were up anywhere (there are now!) and even the neighbour who has scrap metal yard did not know a dog was missing! He said he saw a collie last week but there are so many dog walkers in that area a dog could have just wondered in. The owner of that property is taking a poster to the local pub. A dog walker said they would put one up in the bus shelter but odd no one had ever seen a lost dog. We searched the farm area (cess pit, old air raid shelter, old farm building and cars) but not any sign of a dog. Angela has returned home but made some good contacts while she was down.
Mollychops
Thanks Sammie . Lets hope tomorrow brings some news
Sammie
I am meeting Angela tomorrow at 10.00am at Haydown to offer what ever assistance I can give.
Spindle
Thank you Sammie. I am sure the dogs trust would scan any dog that came in. Anglela will need all the help anyone can offer tmomorrow. The sightings are POSSIBLE but by no means definate so we are still a bit in the dark. Angela is getting help in spreading the word out there, thank you Howard from Laines for doing the same for Glory. We just need that one definate sighting of her. If anyone available to help or poster it would be so appreciated. Angle can be contacted on 07889 926132 number on the poster.
Sammie
I will phone Angela later this evening (spoke to her last night) I am able to help look tomorrow.
I presume someone did contact the Dogs Trust in Cholderton as I am sure that is where a lot of people would contact if they found a dog?Last edited: 2012-01-12 17:20:00 by Sammie

Hi Everyone, just a quick update to say that breeder is travelling down to the area mentioned by Sammie - if there is anyone in that area who is able to assist her - or even provide a fresh cuppa - we would be entirely grateful. My contact number is posted above as is mums should anyone be available. Thanks

Sammie, thanks for posting I have alerted Cathie to this. Very likely they will be searching areas onn thursday so if you can offer any help please contact Cathie direct on the mobile number 07766 073925. I will e mail Howard with information in a moment. Karen has kidly put some posters up, the more we can get up the better.
Sammie
Cathie, Have you contacted Howard from the shooting ground? Will post his web site under. He is very close to East Cholderton and one a dog could easily walk there (they have kennals) and two he trains dogs so knows loads of people in the area. Is Haydown the farm where you go past the horse fields to get to? and they park Caravans at the top behind some buildings? From there I don't think a dog would willingly cross the A303, more likely to head for the Woods, which unfortunately there are quite a few. I will text my friend who's father owns a hudge amount of land close by. If you do come down please contact me if I can be of any help.

Forgot to mention I live about 10 min drive from Cholderton, and the sighting of the black and white dog was between my village and Cholderton. If Glory crossed the A303 she could have been in Bulford villagfe or go straight on to the Becon and possibly Salisbury Plain, as a dog walker I walk on both about 4 times a day and know most of the Landwardens who have been great at assisting with other lost dogs, so I will notify them all tomorrow as they cover the whole of the plain in their trucks. I will also put posters up at all the usual parking places for dog walkers. Lets get this girl home. Karen xLast edited: 2012-01-09 00:20:18 by Karen - Solstices Missing Dogs and Wiltshire volunteer

I have just seen email about Glory, I have emailed all my customers in the Wiltshire area and sent them a copy of the poster, I will also put up posters tomorrow everywhere I can including the barracks at Larkhill, Bulford and Tidworth. I was told last Thursday that a black and white dog was seen running around the Bulford Village area, no one was able to catch it as it was scared, I went looking but did not see the dog myself, it was the local Petrol station staff that told me about it, but if it went missing from Cholderton it is possible that it could be Glory although she would have had to cross the A303, I will put posters up in Bulford Village in case. Fingers crossed we find this girl. Karen - County Pet Services

Hi Cathie here - Will do Mollychops - although he is adamant he has checked all over!! I have this evening sent her poster onto 3 horse transporters, a transfreight firm who travel the a303 daily, and the armed forces (in case she heads for Salisbury Plain). I will be ringing a few other places tomorrow and plan to head up to the area myself next week to go leaflet dropping if nothing turns up.

Cathie please can you contact Simon the farmer where she went missing, and ask him to check all areas on his farm, where she might have been caught up, sheds barns slurry pits etc

ALMGILLESPIE
Hi all, Cathie here, sadly sighting was a false alarm so please can we keep looking. Am in direct contact with Spindle on here and have now given her more details on the area Glory went missing. If there is anyone in the area of East Cholderton who is able to do a search or deliver posters I would be forever grateful. We are planning to coordinate a visit with a couple of dogs in the next few days to see if we can entice her out.

It would seem by looking at a map of the area there are a few places where she could be laying low - food would be in easy reach should she decide to raid bins.

I have rung all vets - including equine ones - in the SP11 and surrounding areas and also the pub which is 10 minutes away from where she went missing (stangely enough they had no idea what I was on about which is weird for a country pub!!) but they did put the word out for me and have made a note of numbers. Onwards and upwards as they say, once again thank you xx

Hope and pray Glory is found safely soon x ,I dont live that near Andover but have been over this morning to Basingstoke and went into the Pets At Home Store and given a poster of Glory and asked them to display it ,I know its not that close but keeping Glory fresh in peoples minds will hopefully help people look out for her .All fingers and paws crossed here for Glory x .

Hi everyone, Cathie Gillespie here on behalf of mum Angela. We have today had a radio announcements made in Southampton, Andover and Portsmouth. I have also made contact with several local farriers who regularly visit farms etc and have emailed over some posters, Network Rail have been notified and have promised to do their best to help! I am trying to make contact with Royal Mail via a family member who works for them to see if they can ask rural delivery drivers to keep a look out and a friend who is a gun licensing officer in the Police is carrying a poster for when they visit farms and estates. The page on Facebook is growing but we could do with more people on it. Thank you again for everyones help!!

Glory;s breeder has been doing a brilliant job in the search. Glory will be in the local paper this weekend, and has already been on the radio. Help is desperatley needed in the area she went missing from, with postering. Highways people have been alertred and have been very helpful, and Ive asked for network Rail to be notified

Looks like area missing from is quite near to the A303, very busy road, with luck she will stay away from noise of traffic. May be good idea to contact highways and network rail. Needs lots of posters putting up in case she has been taken in over the holiday period.

Ive just had an emnail fromSimon, who she was staying with, he has started postering and has had a good read of my email advice sheets. Yes they do go feral Angela, but we will cross that bridge when we get there. We need to really poster like mad, jog people s memories, as its been a while now since she went. Ive asked Simon to get her in the local paper, if she has been taken in by someone over the Cristmas break, it will makethem aware someone is looking for her.

Morning people, just to update you that we have this morning informed PetLog that Glory is missing. The biggest worry now is IF Glory has been on her own for a while it is possible that she will now be 'feral' and may be difficult to catch. She is incredibly friendly towards other dogs and we have been informed that the area she went missing in is a popular dog walking area so it may be possible that she has tagged on to someone exercising their dogs. Once again, many thanks for your help.

@HeatherP, remember your dog well and you are more than welcome!!

She wandered off the property, waiting to hear back from breeder and owners friend, to make sure they got my emails
Neighbark
Did she go off on her own...or was she taken by someone?

Likewise, too far away to help but really hope Glory is home soon. Years ago Angela kindly kept my dog safe after she escaped near Hill Farm so have much to be grateful to her for.

picture on now, thanks Angela. Glory went missing on the 18th at night from the property where she was staying. There have been no sightings. The council and DWhave been informed. Ive spoken to the owners friend with whom she was staying and given him loads to be getting on with to find her, and will email out to him advice sheets, and a link to her poster.
Mollychops
waiting for a similar picture of Glorys mother so I can upload
ALMGILLESPIE
Description - she has tipped ears - 1 higher than the other, Is a very quiet natured dog and has a full coat. She has a white muzzle and a triangular scruff, also a white stripe going from her muzzle up between her eyes. She has 4 white feet and full tail. She isn't as tall as many collies and answers to her name. Glory has no road sense and this is of obvious concern to us
ALMGILLESPIE
Hello everyone and thank you. I am Cathy Gillespie (Angela Gillespie's daughter) and would like to say we appreciate all the efforts you are putting in to help us find Glory. Glory has never been without the company of other dogs and therefore will be incredibly distressed, she has no road sense which in itself has us incredibly concerned for her welfare. She was wearing a collar and tag, and is also microchipped.

Again, thank you for all your help

Thanks Ashmark & Mollychops. I have adjusted the wording in th description boxes so that it should read correctly on the posters. I have moved the following to here, hope that is OK.

Glory has gone missing from the Andover area. She is microchipped and registered to Angela Gillespie, Detania, Main Road, Kelsale, Suffolk. IP17 2 RG. However her owner is Simon Cheshire, Haydown Farm, Andover, SP11 8LB. Owner is on holiday and dog has gone missing whilst owner absent. She has been seperated from her pup who is now distressed and bitch needs to be reunited with her urgently.

Sorry to see that GLORY SIGHTED is missing.
  • If your dog is microchipped please let the microchip company know that your dog is missing and check that all details are up to date.
  • Owners targeted by a malicious hoaxer demanding money for the return of their dog should phone the police on 101 immediately and contact admin@doglost.co.uk
  • A photograph of your dog is essential for the website. If you have not already uploaded one, please do so by clicking on Update details. Alternatively you can email it to admin@doglost.co.uk quoting the dog's DogLost ID number: (35795)
  • Obtain a missing poster by clicking on View poster above. Posters are very important so start postering now!
  • You will need to be logged in to upload photos, edit your dog's details, or add comments. You can add comments by clicking on Click here to add a comment.
  • Contact dog wardens, vets and local rescue centres, and in Scotland, the Police. Give a detailed description with any distinguishing marks/scars or send them a copy of your DogLost poster. You can find vets in your area here.
  • If your dog has been stolen inform the police immediately and obtain a crime reference number (CRN). Send an email to stolen@doglost.co.uk.
  • If your dog is picked up and taken to rescue kennels, it can be legally re-homed after seven days. Visit rescue centres in person and do not rely on checking by phone alone. Other people may not recognise your dog by your description, so give them a DogLost poster.
  • Keep us updated by keeping your dog's page up to date and check for posts from helpers who may have suggestions and possible matches or sightings
  • DogLost is free and anyone asking for money to find or return your dog is not volunteering for us. If you are concerned about an approach you have received, please email admin@doglost.co.uk
