I have contacted all the local vets and the Highways Agency as the railway and M6 motorway run very close together in the area where the leg was seen which is only 1/2 a mile from home but there has not been anything found or reportedLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

It is possible I guess but I don't know. It's all so upsetting I don't know how they're coping. I guess they must decide where to go from here. I still pray Murphy is safe somewhere RxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Just a thought (probably stating the obvious) but is there any possibility that Murphy may have been hit by a train but survived? If he was found in time, despite the massive bleeding the loss of a leg would cause, he may have been taken to a local vets. Have any local vets been contacted?Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Nattyone is absolutely right. There will also be a contractor responsible for that stretch of line. (Very possibly Carillion) Get their details from Network Rail and call them too. PM me if you need any help.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Railtrack Helpline - the people who clear the track will be able to give a description of any dog killed which may help people who have lost dogs to find out what happened to them. The phone number is 08457 114 141. All dogs found are supposed to be logged but if you fail to get any joy from this number, don't hesitate to speak to the 'local' linesman in the area you think the dog went missing Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Unfortunately a helper has found a dogs leg near a railway line in the area. Owners have been informed and are going to have a look to verify. The leg was found in Wreay wood so unfortunately it looks as though it may belong to Murphy.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

We have had a sighting of a labrador fitting Murphy's discription this morning in Wreay woods.I have spent the day there searching the woods but have had no luck. This is a popular area for dog walking just off J42 M6.I would be greatful for everyone around this area to keep a lookout.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Other people to contact: Refuse depot; PO delivery office; local dairy/milkmen; bus companies; taxi/minicab companies. These people are out and about all the time. Murphy is such a cute little thing that nobody is going to refuse to keep a look out and hopefully they will also take a poster.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Keep going back to the refuges, in person if possible - they don't always check thoroughly. Also keep ringing highways agency/dog warden on a regular basis. Sorry I'm not close enough to help. Everything crossed for you - and Murphy. Eve xLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I hope Murphy is home soon, is it possible to have a photo posted as that makes such a difference, especially as Murphy (like mine) wasn't chipped. Don't get despondent as it is early days and you'll have a lot of support from everyone viewing these pages. Please read the reunited pages for reassurance, they will give you hope.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18
