Hi Claire Merseymart no. 0151-734-4000, they still have an office on Allerton Rd. They also print other publications that cover a very wide part of the northwest including Warrington and Birkenhead etc. You could find out how much it would cost for them to enclose a leaflet in the paper (I have never come across anyone else doing this and I have been delivering for approx 6 years). If the Merseymart cannot do some printing for you try some local small companies, if you have any problems finding a small printing company I will try and find one for you. They may also do a news story for you. I called into the RSPCA today (as I sometimes do to look around). A gorgeous golden cocker spaniel was taken in there on Monday 20th, picked up as a stray so if anyone else has lost one recently try there. I will not say what sex it is in case someone tries to claim it has theirs. There is already a reserve on it. Have you been in touch with the cocker spaniel rescue. I spoke to Betty Nugent tonight (she covers merseyside). I know Betty from years ago when I was involved with the training clubs and showring. If you want Betty's tel number I will pass it onto you. Regards Jan Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Hi Claire I am new to this site. I live in Woolton off Mackets Lane. I did see a poster in my vet's (Gateacre) a couple of weeks ago and have not stopped thinking about Billy. I am due to go back to the vet tomorrow and was going to have a closer look at the poster and contact you to offer any help. I deliver the Merseymart and cover a large part of Woolton around Mackets Lane and also Woolton Village. Between myself, husband and friends of ours we all deliver in the Woolton and Hunts Cross areas. If you want any leaflets delivering with the Merseymart just let me know. I deliver over a 1000 myself each week, my husband does 800 and our friends between 1000-1500. The merseymart is delivered Wednesday/Thursday each week and I will be on the lookout. Billy may have changed colour slightly by now and gone a bit darker. I have been looking on epupz for a cocker spaniel puppy and they had a link to this site and and I was wondering if you had contacted this site. I came across your advert and have been reading all the comments. Have you also tried the dog training clubs? Regards JanLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

It was on mackets lane so i think it may be the dog that people have seen! unless you look at photo closely then you could be mistaken but he clearly has much darker legs than billy! sorry this is a blow. Just need to see who else calls you with sightings! also this looks like it was poss the dog i saw before christmas! lets not get down about this im sure he is out there! have you tried puting an add in the echo lost and found as i spotted one for another dog. so try them! they might ask for a small fee but surely its worth it as soooo many people read it! also if your plea while you do add they might want to make story! who knows! i shall email them with it too! come on billy get in the blue! i will be more carefull in future and not try to cause accidents! Have spoken to Petlog, no one has tried to change ownership details. So hes still out there somewhere. I really think you should report Billy missing to the RSPCA Stray Pound on 0151 486 1706 and Freshfields Animal Rescue on 0151 831 1604, neither of these have a missing report for Billy. According to petlog Billy was reported missing on 19th November, can you please confirm this Missscouse?Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Check with your local council that they are not taking the posters down. There's an area near to me that will not allow small notices giving directions to a dog show on lamp posts etc. I hope whoever has got Billy is taking them down because that means he's still in the area. I really hope he's home soon. Sue Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Hi Leanne, thanx for replying. It must have been distressing to have had the prank phone calls. Some people are sick, aren;t they. Wot exactly did they say to you? Do you think they could have been genuine at all? I'm afraid I can not meet with you as I'm miles away, Would love to meet you face to , and help you look for your poor Billy, in person. I've had word from my mate in the Woolton area. The last sighting was also near Macketts Lane, but back at the end of February. He has tried to look himself , but no luck. The silly beggar is going on a holiday in a couple of days!!! ( typical man!! ) so no more results are likely from this source. You must be having such a hard time at the mo, wot with Billy missing and your son having had the chicken pox. ( My daughter had this once, and it's not nice. I will keep racking my brains for ideas for you. Good luck.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

sheltie lady i live in a semi detached house he was in the front garden but all the garden fences are joined together there is railings at the front of the garden n a fence at either side the fence isnt that high but to high for him to jump over at the time the railings are a lot higher n the gaps r to small for him to fit through. None of the neighbours saw anythin or did any1 from the pub across the road all my neighbours n quiet a few people from the pub came out to help us look for him all in all id sat there was at least 20?30 people lookin for him within half an hour of him goin there was people in cars on bikes and on foot xxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Thanks for your reply. Just to get a better picture here, was he missing from the front or back garden? What type of garden is it ( I mean a terraced house or detached ?). If it is a terraced, then would the person responsible have had to climb over neighbours gardens to get in ? Did they see anything or hear anything suspicious? Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Clare, media coverage is always difficult in large cities because the media is dominated by large regional dailies who don't regard dog stories as news and who invariably share the same news desk. J Mo will vouch for the difficulty we had with one dog over the summer. I'll be in touch later regarding the information I'll need.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I used to live in Liverpool - Walton. I now have three cocker spaniels and I know how special they are and how much love they give - if you are suspicious of them coming down South I will travel from Birmingham down to try and find Billy, at least you know the South is covered let me know and I'll go take a camera and food and bedding and whatever you know he likes - it may take a bit of stress away if you know someone in the other half of the country is searching too. Anything I can do I am hereLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I do hope you find Billy safe and well very soon and that he is back with you. It must have been a terrible time but at least you have support now with finding him. I think Sue's idea about giving the posters to the postman is an excellent idea. Someone must have seen something. All the best with finding him RxxxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

How old is Billy now? Is he 7 months now or when lost? How old is he in the photo? Just wondering, as when they are puppies they can change so much so quickly. Good luck.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Having done the mailing of poster to all of Liverpool-one of our helpers thinks she has seen Billy 2 weeks before Christmas in the Woolton area by Williams garden centre-owner will put posters up in this area tomorrow as Billy may have been taken in by someone-also may have been clipped by a car.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Clare, if you're on good terms with your postman you could 'buy him a pint' and ask him to put some posters through letter boxes when he's delivering mail. If you have any free papers in your area, find out how much they charge to leaflet as they deliver papers, a way to reach a lot of people while you're checking out other things.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

What a sad story- lets hope tht a local paper might take action. May I also suggest visiting all local vets with a poster asking them to check their records for a similar dog,age that may have arrived on their books. Also take posters to pets stores where dog food is sold etc and plead with them to put up a poster for a while-- this is where our band of local helpers will be needed. It may be that someone is unaware and bought in good faith BUT it could also bring much needed information. At elast this one is chipped so I presume that the company have been informed and have it on their records as a MISSING DOG ???? Jane FLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

i have emailed a pic of billy in so it should be up asap. Billy was stolen from my secure front garden on 28th november at approx 6:30pm i let him out for a run around while i made his tea, the front dorr was left open i was gone 2mins at the most when i came to shout him in for his din dins he had gone. I did contact garston police station n put up posters, i also contacted local newspapers n radio stations but thy wouldnt help even tho there has been a few dogs go missin in this area. My 2 young children are heart broken they still sleep with his teddy every night and ask about him all the time. I know its been a few months since he has been gone (i only found out about this site late last week) but me n the kids will never give up hope that are well mannerd very friendly billy will be back home soon love n kissis to billy where ever you are ur heartbroken family Clare Jessica and Aaron xxxxxxxxxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18
