What a fabulous thing to see Ray so happy in his new home...beautiful boy and sure he's forgiven quickly for his chewing! ...ok maybe not the log book! Stay safe Ray xx
Lorna
Lovely news Rottie. Wishing you all much happiness and non-chewed belongings!
DogLostOwl
I have bumped this so that Ray's supporters can see the photo of him in his forever home with rottie & co.
Esther
Great news rottie. By now it would have been a big upset for him to have another home and he obviously adores you and Paul (and various belongings)I have a rescue dog and as someone put it, by doing that you really help two dogs, the one you take in gives a space for another dog to be rescued .I am sure you have made the right decision
zena
So so happy you have decided to keep him, lucky boyx
rottie
After lots of discussion we have decided to make Ray part of the family for good, he has really settled and although we dont have probably all the time he deserves he gets atleast 1 good walk a day and several good runs loose around my garden which he loves!! not a massive garden but big enough for him to really get some speed up,he has alot to learn but my other boys are helping with that too, he does on occasions get alittle telling off from my eldest 3 legged rotty. Hopefully we have made the right decision, just so many others looking for homes, and he is so loving to us now and is begining to trust alittle. Does like to chew and collect things, did eat Pauls mot and log book for his car and a remote control, wasnt popular that day, everything now is very high out of harms way! Thank you for thinking of him.xx
Esther
Has he been found a new home yet? Or is he still asleep on your sofa rottie!
zena
Wish you could keep him rottie!x
rottie
he is fine thankyou, several welfares looking for suitable home for him, want to get people who know what thet are doing to hopefully find him somewhere, they will do home checks ect, i can keep for the moment but feel he could find someone with more time for him. Will be heartbreaking when he goes though. X
Esther
How is he getting on now rottie?
zena
Lovely photos so happy to see him
Unknown
Some good results today for Doglost, and all who helped reunite him. Stay safe nowxxx

Carol
Yes a home with Rottie sounds good :-) xxxxxxx
lunasmum
Sad but hopefully he'll get a home where he's wanted <3
cindy
lunsmum apparently the owner showed no interest in trying to catch the dog and now is un-contactable. So I guess he is not a lost dog.

Rottie, you are a real super hero, to travel 100 mile round trip on numerous occasions to help this poor dog is really fantastic. So pleased that your efforts and those of all the other helpers had a positive outcome. Thank you to all of you and I hope that this poor dog has a bright future ahead of him. Would also love to see a picture when you have time.

Just took the call from rottie to tell me this boy had finally been caught. Absolutely fantastic news! Vicky- you have worked so hard for this boy- you are an absolute star and it was a pleasure to meet you. Can't stop bawling- have been so worried about him. Thank you everyone that helped him xx
Esther
BRILLIANT !!!!!!!!!!!!!! Well done to you all, especially rottie and Paul. You have all worked so hard for this dog. All of you must be so thrilled. All of you, the cat group, the residents, dog warden, council and all helpers, rottie and Paul should be heartily congratulated. Well done.
DogLostJayne - Founder Doglost.
Well done!

This hound, who appears to be a saluki lurcher, has at last been trapped by rottie and her housemate Paul, after several long vigils, and with the help of some ripe Stilton! He has just been to vet. He has an injury to his back leg which could be from RTA, also various uncomfortable sores, and 40+ ticks were removed. He has no chip and the person who claimed to have just bought him showed little interest in trying to catch him and is now I am told uncontactable. Hound is now being fostered by rottie while he recovers and has treatment for his injury, then he will be neutered and homed. Thank you everyone who has helped with this long campaign to catch him, not only dog rescue volunteers but also feral cat group, local residents, dog warden and council. rottie
slow steps, have been monitering from a distance, he looks ok to be fair, as soon as he hears anyone he is gone so not surprised no sightings, is being fed regular, my trap not tall enough so waiting for bigger trap from rescue in birmingham.Dont worry i am on the case.xx
Carol
Rottie how is this poor sweetie any chance of trapping it yet I can't stop thinking about it , makes me cry xxxx
rottie
food still going, due over to moniter nxt day or so
Carol
Any news xxx
duffs54
So pleased he has someone watching out for him fingers crossed xxxx
Carol
Thank you to the local lady ur a star xxxx
Esther
Many thanks to the local lady.
rottie
local lady who lives near to restaurant is helping out, she had been feeding anyway and food has been going ,last seen on the 4th by her, she is going to keep me informed of times approx food going so i can go back over with the trap. She is so near can check food every hour or so,so not being left down and attractiing vermin.Restaurant bins raided on the 7th as she was late putting food out, we dont know is definatly our hound however worth a go i think. x thank you again to this ladyLast edited: 2013-12-10 10:59:58 by rottie

Good to meet you this morning Vicky. Sorry I had to rush off to work. You had a very long cold day - a real shame there was no sign of this poor boy.
rottie
No luck, will await sightings, lots of local help who will keep me updated. Thanks very much to ladies today for watching trap whilst i had breaks.xx
Myhal
Also to add, it is thought to be micro chipped.I am checking with local bus depot on Monday as a bus driver nearly caught it a few weeks ago. Need definite confirmation of size and colouring.Last edited: 2013-11-30 17:55:10 by Myhal

Been out today and met lovely Vicky, who has spent all day at castle with a dog trap in position. Various children have seen it many times going between Tolney Lane and town centre. Apparently it is a Brindle brown Saluki, either worse for wear or rough coated. It is wearing a tan/orange collar with part lead hanging down. It is called Rocky, according to one of the boys. It is in an emaciated state. Trap was set with smelly sardines, awaiting an update as I left at 3.40pm. Vicky was staying unti 6pmish and Lilli Teauge was going to walk the park area either side of the river later. dog was last seen by a local lad a week ago last Wednesday. Two children said they saw it a few days ago, but not sure how reliable this is.Last edited: 2013-11-30 17:54:30 by Myhal
Esther
Glad rottie now has local help. Best of luck to you all

DogLostOwl
Thank you, will get that done.
Lorna
Worth sending alerts to Newark and surrounding areas? Can't see that any have been sent looking at posts below and it might be some local doglost helpers aren't aware.
Ninja - Area Volunteer, Lincolnshire

DogLostOwl
I can give them a call on Monday, thanks for trying and I am sure the hound will appreciate the food.
rottie
Been hear since around 6pm, no sign, will leave food before i leave, need to speak to dog warden re plan of action but struggling, might see if owl can get any news out of them.Different person calling might help.
DogLostOwl
Sighted around 3 this afternoon, same place as last Saturday and following same route. Many thanks to the 2 young lads who called me. They said the hound looked very thin & ribby. I think they had a better view of him/her as it was daylight, and the 2 guys who saw him last week were there after dark. Have passed info on to rottie.
zena
Thank you for updates feel so useless living so far away, have been speaking to nice lady at the council, but not managed to speak to Eddie, must be getting food OK if looks ok
rottie
they are trying to get this dog as quickly as possible however as with everything else they only have so much time, if i was closer would take a trap myself however it is still a waiting game and the dog warden has already got a trap set as far as i know, i am sure the dog warden is doing everything possible. If you wanted to try to get an update the gentlemans name is Eddie, these dogs do not make themselves easy to catch, the good thing is people are not now trying to chase it and looks as if is taking the food as saturday sighting was of an ok looking dog. Atleast keeping away from the roads. Last edited: 2013-11-19 11:27:25 by rottie

Can't believe they haven't caught that poor dog yet!
rottie
updated dog warden on saturday sighting, come on you little monkey let yourself be caught!

Vicky
zena

zena

rottie
Thanks esther thats very kind of you, have postered around the town and castle,as quite a drive will now keep intouch with the dog warden who seems very keen to trap this dog,can take a while with a trap but i am sure dog warden will get him/her! Also called in a police station and spoke with a very helpful police lady.
Esther
Good luck with this one rottie, you did such a brilliant job with Velvet
zena
Hope its soon!

The longer a greyhound is out on the run, the smarter it gets I am afraid. It is going to be a question of time, patience and teamwork.

thanks very much for all help, need to keep dog warden informed of sightings as may need to move the trap, if anyone is in a position to put posters up so people know to ring dog warden that would be great.Owl i am sure would not mind taking all info and letting dog warden know or updating this site. I contacted RSPCA said will only help if Newark council ring them for help.really concerned about this poor dog don't know what to do next I live 2 hours away can you do anything to help really worried - forgot to say dog was in castle grounds must be sleeping there as kept going back there after running about in road

Hope this one is caught soon especially with fireworks etc.xx

I have just spoken with a very helpful lady at Newark Council. She tells me that this dog has been running around the same area for at least a week, and several people have reported sightings. The dog warden is keen to catch and kennel it, as it looks to be in very poor condition. If you see it, please notify the council on 01636 655571.
