There's been a lot of activity here, so I think it's time to enlist the help of the local papers. Dorking Advertiser: Katherine Newton, News Editor on 01306 886661. Same number for the Surrey Mirror. Might also be worth contacting the Godalming Times: 01483 50 8900. This is also the no for the Surrey Advertiser.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Any news yet? Have just been up that way and have postered round the back of Gomshall Village (Goose Green/Queen Street areas). Also put poster through letterbox of Brelades vets in Gomshall. (found some old Bella posters which I removed - also any scruffy old Jasper/Pip ones should come down now please if anyone sees any). Just a thought - does Zara go down holes? Lots of rabitty areas in the Hurtwood. Does owner check Battersea/Treetops EVERY DAY? Hoping for good news this weekend . . . .Px Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Sorry, haven't been able to get up to Abinger today - should be v. busy with walkers and mountain bikers over the weekend. Hope owner has postered all Hurtwood car parks and Peaslake. (Thank you for nice comments Sarah, but it was Paul and Grace's amazing determination and energy that got Megan back). Will try to get out postering for Zara tomorrow . . . . . Just come back. Been walking and driving the area since quite early this morning. Put up several more posters and spoketo many dogs walkers most, but not all, had seen posters and were looking out. Spoke to Patsys ranger pal Mark and put poster in car park (Hurtwood 9) where he was working. Parked at the WI car park, which he said was where Zara had been sighted. Several WI ladies outside, none of them knew anything at all about a missing dog ! despite the fact they were standing/sitting drinking tea about 6 feet from a poster.......they know now. Walked for ages in the woods there, whistling and hoping, attracted quite a few lovely dogs but sadly not the one I was looking for. Unfortunately 'my youngest' found something absolutely disgusting to roll in so the journey home has not been very pleasant, and now it's bath time if I can catch her. There was a rather elderly spaniel (not a cavalier)wandering around in front of the pub near the car park, a very well meaning non dog person maybe could have thought it was her ???????? Surely not.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Mark Beaumont just emailed me back - he will be working in the Felday House car park area first thing tomorrow and then WI Hall Car Park (that's on the Holmbury St Mary side of the Hurtwood) and will be keeping an eye out for Zara. Suggest that owners keep in touch with Mark as he knows area v. well and is out and about all day. PxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Owner rang this evening and has said it seems fairly certain this sighting was Zara. He managed to track down the other dogs owner and they were not out at the time Zara was spotted. Going by the nature of these dogs they are friendly but will be timid when approached maybe even run. If she is seen would suggest immediate call to owner on any of the mobiles given. Yes I saw lots of posters up all along the routes. I came in from Ockley and started that way through to A25, in and out the single tracks. For the most part I did the bus shelters, BT poles, Leith Hill car parks (although they won't be up for long I suspect). Got some dog walkers along the roads too. Patsy, do you know the guys name you speak of. A lady suggested a ranger by the name of John Furness I think - lives local. Will check it out tomorrow. Thanks again ladies. Sue x Owner sends his thanks once again to all involved.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I think the car park you mean is where I parked, having run out of posters, and walked with my dogs. Didn't even see any other dog walkers, think I was out too early this morning. Good that they are getting so much response, so many people looking out for her. Do we know if she is a friendly dog or is she timid and likely to try and avoid people ?Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Just a thought - if it was Zara seen at Holmbury, owner should contact Hurtwood Control Ranger and the Youth Hostel in the Hurtwood and poster at Peaslake Village Shop and in car parks all around the Hurtwood. Maybe they have aleady done so? P.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Yes Sue, farm shop people said that poss. sighting was in The Glade at the edge of the Hurtwood at Holmbury St Mary (the grassy car park at the end of Holmbury St Mary village by village hall where dog walkers park - have put poster there). Have also postered Wotton Hatch, farm yard entrance at Wotton Estate, notice board at Hollow Lane (the one you mean Jan?), along Hollow Lane, Friday Street (pub, notice board, NT car parks. Evelyn Cottages in Abinger Common, Holmbury side of the Pasturewood, village hall notice board at Abinger Hammer and tTllingbourne Trout Farm Shop. Also gave posters to Surrey Hills Brewery delivery driver (they are based at Shere) and the Vineyard wine shop delivery man (based in Dorking) and plumber working in Friday Street - all promised to keep a look out. Anyone going up there, Wolvern Country Store needs a poster and more in villages along Tillingbourne valley. has anyone done Brelades vets? Sorry, cannot do much tomorrow. Saw lots of owner's posters - and DogLost ones (Sue/Jan??) which was encouraging. Hurry home Zara . . . Patsyx Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I am here Sue !, just come in from driving round + round the area, put up posters around Holmbury and Abinger, by the time I worked out that the possible sighting should be Hollow Lane I had run out of posters ! There is a lovely notice board at the Wooton end that I would have wanted to put poster (did put one the other end of Lane) hopefully you or Patsy will get one there. Will try and get out again tomorrow but not sure. Knowing 'lightening Patsy' the area will be blitzed ! Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Thanks Patsy - Holmbury a possible sighting, but could be a local dog also. Owner has been looking in the area but no luck. Will head out that way in a while, might cross paths. Wheres that Jan!! Sue xLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Admin - Should read HOLLOW LANE NOT HARLOW WAY ON POSTER. If Zara is heading north up Hollow Lane, she is in danger of getting onto the main A25 at Wotton - so suggest we poster along main road at usual places (Wotton Hatch, Kingfisher Farm shop etc) as well as back towards Abinger and Holmbury St Mary. I can go out postering later in the morning. PLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

As soon as admin receive a picture and posters are e-mailed to helpers they need to be put up in the area a.s.a.p. lamposts, entrances to parks, vets, petshops, ask postie, milkmen, binmen (even put poster on bins), schools, deliver to houses etc. Handout smaller posters to people, especially dog walkers. Put A4 poster in car windows. RSPCA and rescue centres need checking regularly and preferably visited in person, by owner or someone who knows Zara. xx Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18
