- I am BUMPING Brooks page because one of the friends of his owners has been instrumental in reuniting a north east dog today !!! She matched POPPY TS6 ( ID 57642 ) who was missing in an area away from her home from her doglost link to a post for a found dog whilst she was scanning pages for Brook. So I feel Brook deserves to be bumped as in a way he has helped another dog to be reunited. Now let's hope it's Brooks turn to be found !! 2 YEARS SINCE BROOK WAS TAKEN...
Family and everyone is doing a great job in their search, would be great to see him back home with his mum and dad.
Thinking of Brook wherever he is. x - 2013-03-18 23:47 Mackwok
- How awful, I do hope you find him. Strangely he looks very similar to that picture of a dog on FB who recently took I'll, after being fed too many grapes! I felt compelled to mention this, just in case he has been stolen and turned up at the vets. It's probably not him, but may be best to have a look at the post to rule it out. xxx

- agree Belle. Some people are just sad losers who need to get a life.If this person is a foreign student I don't think the university will look too kindly on it.
As Caroline says the search goes on xxx - 2013-03-02 22:33 Caroline Hoyles
- Thanks to everyone for all your help and comments. To be totally honest I thought something wasn't right from day one, hence why this 'Vincent' bloke hasn't build our hopes up about 'Brian' being our Brook. The search goes on........xx
- 2013-03-02 22:25 Belle
- Like every sane person here, I would love this to be Brook. But if this is a hoax then the hoaxer is probably getting as much pleasure out of all our worried posts as he did at the thought of upsetting (or conning) the poor owner. All we're doing is giving him attention. If he has the dog he knows how to make contact. Nuff said.
- 2013-03-02 21:55 Bonnies' mum
- Would it be possible for an 'official' from Doglost to contact Lancaster University or University of Cumbria(which is also based in Lancaster) and see if they have a student by this name?

- Lot's of Vincent Deleons/De-Leons on FB mainly in the US or with blank profiles. I must admit when I first read this I thought it odd that the dog was found sitting outside a bank in the dark and now with the contact details being suss.....I just wonder why someone would single out Brook and then go to the trouble of creating a found listing though xxx
- 2013-03-02 20:22 Jayne - Founder Doglost.
- AAH I stand corrected...saw the initial found dog report but have only been monitoring Brooks page since....As you can all understand how busy it is at HQ....Okay track him on facebook crew...his name is Vincent Deleon...though his email address ...which I am not allowed to put on a public forum does have an Hyphen between the de and the leon....
- 2013-03-02 20:14 angi
- I just don't understand why he posted he thought the dog was like Brook and he would be happy to give him back then doesn't get in touch at all. It doesn't add up :/ x

- Jayne, he does know Brook is missing as he posted on this page - see down below. I am not saying this means a hoax just letting you know in case you had not seen his post on this page. QUOTE: 2013-02-28 21:45 Vincent2303D
I found dog that looks just like him :0 and in the lancaster town center too! i have posted hi on the found dog's part of the web site. let me know if it sounds like him and send me a e-mail or somthing, i'd happly give him back to you :) UNQUOTE - 2013-03-02 19:00 Claire Gresty - Area Co-ordinator & Police Liaison - North West
- I hope you're right Jayne, lets keep everything crossed for Brook's safe return :-) x
- 2013-03-02 18:55 Jayne - Founder Doglost.
- I dont think its a hoax...hoaxers do usually approach owner directly...he has simple registered a found dog and as he is new to site probably is unaware of Brook being missing....Ange has his email and full name and as it looks as only 1 digit is incorrect maybe he made a mistake...as only 5 minutes away from owner it may be a good idea to go to the pub and ask if they know him....
- 2013-03-02 18:47 Claire Gresty - Area Co-ordinator & Police Liaison - North West
- I was thinking the same last night, if it is a hoax, some people need to GET A LIFE! I really hope something comes of this and it is Brook x
- 2013-03-02 18:42 BBKM
- I am praying this is not a hoax....If it is a hoax then the police need to be informed...I am seething, do these idiots not realise the pain and heartache a dogs owner suffers when their dog is lost/stolen/missing. Not sure if the address will be correct but if it is, I would get the police to that pub to sort the irresponsible students out x Last edited: 2013-03-02 18:47:30 by BBKM

I am sorry, but it all sounds a little odd. Hence my hint earlier about checking the cctv outside the bank. I would be most surprised if the bank does not have cameras outside.

- 2013-03-02 17:07 angi
- ha ha Lissy we came to the same conclusion at the same time!x
- 2013-03-02 17:04 Lissy
- OK, after a bit more sleuthing everything in that postcode that I can find (farm, british waterways, the pub) has a 751 or 752 start to the number. As 4 is directly below 1 on a numeric keypad I wonder if it might ne worth trying 751 for the firt three digits, not 754, if that makes any sense. Will copy this to found post, might make more sense there (or might not)
- 2013-03-02 17:02 angi
- funny the telephone number given is almost identical to the pubs which is full of students.x
- 2013-03-02 16:54 Lissy
- well a pub's got to be a good starting point, they might know of a choc lab that's appeared very locally... the number is very similar to the one given on the found page 01524 752357 is the pub's number. And they have a FB page. http://www.facebook.com/GreenDragonGalgate?fref=ts

- hi Caroline,
It is Sam, Teddy's mum here. Missing GSD bitch from Christmas Common on the 13/12/2011, who was thought to be running with Percy, chocolate Lab at on stage. ID No: 35377
I have been reading about your post office campaign, which is a great idea. The proof that it is working as Ellie spotted Brooks poster in the post office in Woodstock.
I just wondered if you would let me know how set about it, as I would like to do the same for Teddy.
sam.stapleford@btinternet.com
I am so very sorry that gorgeous Brook is still missing. I know that your heart must be breaking as mine is over the loss of my little girl.
Please let me know if there is anything that I do to help from down here. Any post offices in Oxfordshire/Bucks that you would like me to target. Or anything else?

- Some owners are considering taking out a large ad in a national newspaper. We need owners to get together as the cost is large, but split between you is more manageable. Please see Rags page if you are interested. Rags 32420. x

- Hi all, this is a long shot suggestion and I am sorry if it has already been suggested , have you asked people who have "chocolate" labradoodles. If he was stolen for this purpose the first lot of pups would be approx 1 yr old. Some of the litter would be chocolate . Also if you think this is a good idea then I am sure you would be able to check old copies of ad- mag, local papers who advertise pups.Hope this helps. - Re: Post Offices. Could I suggest that any helpers going into Post Offices with Brook's poster tries to get an email address (or fax). If that information is then inputted on the spread sheet, then this can benefit other dogs as well.
- 2012-06-15 18:08 Caroline Hoyles
- Thanks for posting Claire - I have checked the dog and I'm afraid it isn't our Brook x
Thanks for the bump :) The post office campaign we are currently running is a huge task - everyone uses a PO at some point whether it be for paying bills, collecting pension or sending mail. Our aim is for every PO in the country to have a poster on display, in hope that the 'right' person sees it and gets in touch with us. He could be anywhere in the country by now and we feel this is a good way of spreading his name everywhere.
There are many kind people helping us out with this mission, and should anyone wish to help too, please get in touch.
We are accompanying the poster with a well worded letter, which should persuade all postmasters to help us. Both the letter and poster can be emailed to helpers or I can send some out to you. Quite a few areas have already been covered but there are plenty more to go at - in total there are 12,000 Post offices!!!!!
Thanks again to everyone who is looking out for our Brook, all the help and support we are receiving is greatly appreciated.

- Hi, this time I was looking for a Springer Spaniel online (can't imagine who?!) when I came across this chocolate labrador in an interesting photo pose. I know it's miles away, this dog's fatter and it says he's older but if Brook was sold on, they may not know how old he is (differs between title and advert contents BTW). If he's not ruled out by Caroline, he's in my area so I could go 'white fleck hunting' if required! x

- This morning tv programme have posted this on their website....
This Friday we’re intending to feature an item on missing pets. So if you’ve lost a pet, or think you’ve had one stolen, let us know and we might be able to feature them in our missing pets gallery. Email thismorning@itv.com with some good shots of your missing pet and a few details that might help: when you last saw your pet, any distinguishing marks, habits or characteristics. Maybe it was wearing a particular collar. We need your emails by 5.00pm Thursday the 10th May. http://www.itv.com/thismorning/life/reuniting-lost-pets-with-owners/ - 2012-05-08 22:11 Caroline Hoyles

- Dear Caroline
I often check Brook's page when I come on here.
I've been looking through the dog adoption ads to see if Ben the elderly lost collie is on there and I spotted this six-year old chocolate labrador. You can't see his tail properly and I can't tell whether there's a white flash on his chest, but I thought I'd let you know as the age could be wrong. I did a Google map search and whilst it's clearly miles from you, Cannock is pretty much straight down the M6. I've tried to compare their pictures as I don't want to get your hopes up or waste your time, but I just find myself staring at them both...wondering! Hence why I've posted it.

- Thanks for the phone call Jayne - I have spoken to the lady who saw the dog. We have been told that there is a local dog which wanders so we are wondering if it's the same dog? The lady is going to keep a look out, along with some 'Find Brook' members and we will re-poster the area.
Thanks for twittering too x - 2012-03-06 19:19 Riverlady

- Why oh why won't someone in the media help with this appeal? all it will take is for someone like BBC Breakfast to run a general feature in stolen dogs with a special mention of Brook, and someone somewhere will see it and realise that the dog living next door or across the road is him! Sending powerful positive thoughts to will him home.

Caroline Hoyles has tried everything to find her beloved pet dog Brook.
The four-year-old chocolate labrador was stolen from their home six months ago, leaving Caroline and her family frantic and desperate for any glint of information.
Caroline, 37, and husband Aubrey, 42, put up a £5,000 reward for his safe return, created a ‘Find Brook’ page on Facebook, registered him on lost pet websites and used the services of pet detectives.
But their efforts were to no avail.
But now they have given hope – after an animal psychic claimed Brook is living in Preston.
The psychic spotted one of their lost dog posters and got a sense he is living in the city.
Caroline, of Bay Horse, Forton, near Lancaster, said: “I know a lot of people sit on the fence when it comes to animal communicators, but I must admit, after hearing some things she said to me, I have no choice but to believe her.
“This lady first saw a Brook poster six weeks ago in Blackpool and immediately she saw ‘Preston’.
“Two weeks ago, she was driving near where we live and saw the huge sign on the Galgate roundabout, and again Preston came into her head.
“This urged the lady to ring me, although she doesn’t normally offer help.
“The lady is certain he is in Preston, and has given us a lot of information and links to follow up.
“On Sunday, a few of us went to Preston to talk to dog walkers on parks, to see if there were any new chocolate labradors in the area, and to post and hand out leaflets, as well as putting a few posters up to make the public aware of Brook.
“Brook has lived with us from being just a few weeks old, he will be so unhappy without his family, and will be missing his lifestyle.
“We cannot tell you just how much we miss him, and want to find him, although the reward does reflect just how much we want him back home with us. He is a huge part of our family.”

- Thanks to everyone who is keeping a look out and spreading the word about our Brook.
It's over six months since he was taken, and we are still awaiting that one important phone call! We can only hope and pray for some good news soon.
'Lover from Pembrokshire' we checked Chan out before he was re-homed, but funnily enough I got a phone call about him a couple of weeks ago. Chan has been re-homed for three months now, and his new owners saw a Brook poster, and rang me to make sure their new dog wasn't Brook!!
The posters are doing their job! x - 2011-10-22 22:50 Majorjet (Jan) - Area Co-ordinator - Liverpool/Merseyside, North West

- Not sure if I am going over something that's already been posted, and not wishing to raise false hope, but I just wanted you to know that I have seen a Choc male Lab on the Aspen Valley Kennels, Oswaldtwistle website http://rescuecentral.webs.com. He is under the heading "April 2011 onwards" and his "name" is Chan and they say he is 3. Unfortunately he is sitting down so impossible to see tail or white fleck on chest, but I think he is entire. I obviously don't want to raise your hopes, but felt I had to run this dog by you, just in case it is Brook.

Someone, somewhere knows where this dog is, someone sees him out walking, or at a Vet. I will poster ALL my local Vets, and ask everyone else to do the same.
Maybe that kink in the tail will prove to be the key. Lets hope so! - 2011-08-15 22:12 Caroline Hoyles

- Keep thining about a lab i saw weeks ago. Was on canal at woodhouse lane, wigan. I got on at martland mill lane crossed the little bridge then left past the gypsie farm heading toward crook village along the canal. Across the canal theres some waterside appartments (Mews)theres a security gaurd there for some reason and i saw a chocolate labrador in the box with security guard. its been on my mind ever since. However i watched brooks video now and know i would recognise him by his tail. Im away till Monday but i will check the dog out asap. I just wanted to put it on here. Chances its Broook are slim but i need peace of mind. Wishing a speedy return for Brook. Bless him. Love Gail xx

Caroline has managed to get an appeal for Brook in the 'Dogs Today' magazine, which goes on sale 14th June
They haven't printed Carolines direct contact details but have asked anyone who has any info to contact DogLost.

- Funnily enough I spoke to 'Many Tears' yesterday, and she will hopefully be putting an appeal on their website for him. Lots of DL posters are also making their way out to Wales as we speak, as the puppy farms have been mentioned on Brook's fb. God know's where he is now...let's just hope and pray that he'll be back home safely very soon.

They don't give any other details as to colour or gender and don't give their number, just contact through Gumtree. Know it is a distance but if he has been stolen he may have been taken out of the area.

- thankyou I have passed on to caroline. you never know it's only 50 miles according to google so very possible if he's been dumped. Whether Brook or not I hope this poor dog stays safe x

- Contact no for animalsearch is 01432 761 406. If you phone them they will get in touch with finder of this dog to get more details
- 2011-04-28 15:25 angi
- Lizzy do you know any more details you could text caroline as she hasn't been able to get on line today . She says Brook has no road sense as they have so few where they live :-( x
- 2011-04-28 13:07 Unknown
- There is a chocolate lab in Chorlton-cum-Hardy (Manchester) running around in the road, no collar and people couldn't get close enough to see what sex it was. This is quite a distance from you but it is on 'Animal Search' website.

- oops! will check my posting on lab forum.
I expect you are already doing this but please ring,send/take posters to every vet you can find in the book. Someone here had their German shepherd pup stolen recently when it escaped for 5 minutes while visiting. It must have been sold on that day as a few days later the 'new' owners took her to a vet to be checked over and it was picked up. x - 2011-04-27 22:05 Majorjet (Jan) - Area Co-ordinator - Liverpool/Merseyside, North West
- Thanks angi and everyone for looking out for Brook. angi, I've just tried the link you have put and it takes me to the News Feed page on Facebook, the link I posted for Brook's page took me straight to his page on Facebook.
Caroline you are doing all the right things, we know the hardest thing for you is the not knowing where he is and if he is o.k. Great you have now started a FB page up for him this will also help spread the word. The photo/s of him are lovely. Jan x - 2011-04-27 19:17 angi
- can't get the facebook link to work :-( had to do a search with find brook. That worked ok.http://www.facebook.com/home.php#!/home.php?sk=group_104217123000692&ap=1 this is the link. A bit was missing off the end! :-)
I have posted the link on lab forum and bumped the link to this page.
Don't lose heart Caroline we will keep looking xx - 2011-04-27 09:39 angi

an entire lab and a patterdale stolen in Feb ( there was also a Patterdale stolen same day as Brook in Lancaster) coincidence maybe but who knows? may be worth speaking to the people involved. May be a link.If he was stolen because he was still entire suggests someone who has had access to your house or garden ( through a workman perhaps)and met Brook or has met you on a walk. How else would they know. It can't be random. - 2011-04-27 00:12 Majorjet (Jan) - Area Co-ordinator - Liverpool/Merseyside, North West

- Hi, I've followed up the ads, no luck but thanks for looking. I've also got the contact details of local breeders to chase up tomorrow x
- 2011-04-26 10:25 Unknown
- I have been on preloved and there is a dog for stud in Doncaster - only shows pic of his face but no papers - due to house fire - heard that used before on other breeds on there - wearing red leather collar with brass bones on.
- 2011-04-26 10:01 Unknown
- I know you have said he is entire - have you tried contacting breeders in your area. I know there is one in Lancaster and also one who breeds chocolates in Morecambe.

- Has anyone got any more ideas in getting Brook back home. It's been 10 days since he was taken and we are terribly worried for him.The house isn't a home without Brook......who ever has got him, please, please bring him back, no questions asked! With some of the reward you can go and BUY your own dog!

- Caroline, I've swopped the photo/s over and updated the various size posters. Depending how the details have been put on Facebook they can be edited and the right link put on. You did register him twice (see comments further down the page). Jan x
- 2011-04-23 23:11 Caroline Hoyles
- Hi Jan, would it be possible to swap the image on the posters, as the extra image is the better one of Brook. Also there is a problem with the facebook link as Brook's details aren't coming up? It's my fault as I think I have registered twice! Sorry and thankyou x

- Caroline and Mel, if you could team up with each other and look out for Brook and Digby that would help. I will email the various size posters to each of you just in case you can. Jan x

- Hi. Thank you for you comment about Digby. I hope you find brook soon. Have you tried putting a poster up at Langley lakes down langley lane just of whittingham lane? They have alot of fishermen comming there and they are the sort that might hear about gun dogs etc being stolen. Also the vets down there wil let you put a poster up as well. I hope you find him soon. Kind Regards. Mel.

- I originally posted this comment the other day but for some reason its not appeared on here.
On Saturday 16th April I saw a dog matching this description trying to board the tram at weaste tram stop in salford, apparently it had been following people about all day.
He looked as though he had been shaved and was quite wide. I would have took him home but I had a trolley full of shopping and a toddler with me. I know there is cctv on the tram stop if that helps. x
Good luck hope this helps x - 2011-04-18 19:11 Majorjet (Jan) - Area Co-ordinator - Liverpool/Merseyside, North West

- Owners targeted by a malicious hoaxer demanding money for the return of their dog should phone the police on 101 immediately and contact admin@doglost.co.uk
- A photograph of your dog is essential for the website. If you have not already uploaded one, please do so by clicking on Update details. Alternatively you can email it to admin@doglost.co.uk quoting the dog's DogLost ID number: (29259)
