  • Lost In Region North East
  • Lost In Post Area S36
  • Date Reunited
  • Other Info Shadow was lost on the edge of open moorland and due to the fireworks occurring on the evening he went missing he may well have headed out towards the moors rather than towards any town/village. He is very friendly, but only young and very timid. It is unlikely he would be easily caught as he would be too scared to approach someone. Places he knows and may try to return to are - Underbank reservoir, Whitwell Moor and Wharncliffe woods.

Hi Charlotte
Sorry for the delay replying. I’d sent it in but just done a quick revision so hopefully ok. I have 8 dogs listed so all in brief.

I then copy that for the website then add to another article of missing dogs /cats.

Mortimer Road looks long. If you are happy sending a screenshot and pin pointing the location of when you last saw shadow I can add to my website.

I really do hope it helps. I’ve been through this twice so understand how you feel.

My email address is: poppyspets67@gmail.com

Take care Lesley
@poppys pets. Yes I am his owner and I would be happy for you to include him in your article. He would be 10yrs old now. He was wearing a black collar, and the nearest place to where he was lost was our home town, Stocksbridge. However, when lost we were on the edge of the moors just off Mortimer Road. Some may know this better as 'the Strines' road. If you want more detail please send your email address and I can send over anything that you need.
Helperpoppys petsLesley (ID84584)
Charlotte- are you the owner as I would like to include Shadow in an article for long lost pets in a northern paper. I was going to text.

It would be in brief.

Just questions:
How old now?
And colour of collar.
And which village is Mortimer Road please?

Helperpoppys petsLesley (ID84584)
Thankyou Charlotte
@poppys pets, sadly he was never found.

Was there any outcome for Shadow as would like to add to an article for long lost dogs. Thankyou

Posted on FB there is a similar dog at Cleadon kennels, worth a look ?
Sorry, I have been out all day on a different search and missed your post. I don't have the precise location of sighting. I think it was Broomhead but check with Wendy. Send her a text if necessary in case she is out of signal range.
Aimees mum
Hi Owl, do you have more precise details of the location where the Husky was sighted? Presumably the sighting was at one of the local reservoirs? Trying to get hold of Wendy but presumably she is out searching. We are free to search most of tomorrow. Alex and the pup x
A husky has been sighted by a Yorkshire Water engineer, running loose in a field on Whitwell Moor area which is where Shadow originally went missing.

Gorgeous boy, come on Shadow its been 3months, you cannot still be living rough! Hope he is found very soon, good luck. If he has been sold on, hope the buyer registers him with vet then the m/chip will show x
has this one been checked https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10155194416350611&set=o.205723579490195&type=1&theater
As a result of teh widespread search for Shadow, news came in of a husky running loose in Rother valley coun try park, Shire Brook park and Beighton areas. I have just bumped Bones to the top as this is close to where she was last known to be living wild, and I am bumping Shadow so anyone looking out in those areas can easily see the photos of both dogs to compare. The sighted dog is described as mostly black so more like Bones than Shadow, but we need to be aware of all possibilities.

Will text owner about this. The newspaper wonder if Murphy. But could be Shadow? Internet slow so unable to enlarge photo.
There has been a dog looking like shadow found in Lincoln, worth looking at. Can't seem to copy the link but it's on the www.thelincolnite.co.uk it's with the Lincoln police incident number 263
Helperpoppys petsLesley (ID84584)
a lot of found huskys appearing with Murphy facebook posts (various ones). If I come across any will try and get on my fb page.
Inge, the people involved in the search for Shadow are also helping in the search of other dogs.
Apparently the same mobile number has been linked to a Staffie.
Sorry I don't have anymore info than that
The page has been removed from Gumtree so it may be that he has been sold. Did the ad say whether he was a pure bred husky? Shadow who is missing is a cross.

Ah you managed to get the link...tx

Tx Lovespugs! have passed your details onto Owl so we can hopefully get a link.
There is a young male husky called shadow who appears to match description for sale on gumtree . Having trouble posting link , it is Derby area x
A bit of a long shot as this young male was found in Wiltshire. Please check as it would not be the first time a dog was found hundreds of miles away
All links to possible matches are checked by one of the Shadow search team and crossposted to his facebook page. No matches yet, but most of us think he is still out there on the run as there have been recent sightings of a husky. But anything is possible so thank you for bringing up these links.Last edited: 2014-12-17 09:37:59 by Owl

hi just to let you know we are having shadow as our dog of the week on find harvey, we will share his poster all over, hoping this helps x
Shadow in The Star newspaper on the 2nd December'14.

Shadow's owner Charlotte has just been interviewed on Radio Sheffield :)
Husky in pound - check please - http://www.cheshirewestandchester.gov.uk/residents/pests_pollution_food_safety/animal_welfare/stray_and_abandoned_dogs/stray_dog_photographs.aspx
After a press release, there was a call from someone who had seen a dog of Shadow's description on the Trans Pennine Trail, alone and looking as if he was living rough. Searchers went to the area after dark and saw eyes and movement running parallel to the trail, right height for a husky. Farmers in area have been informed and will look out for him. Another sighting has been called in and will be followed up today, so please watch out for him in Thurgoland area.

Wendy Godber is now responsible for arranging search parties, plan of action etc. Her number is 07717 433733 Please contact her if you can help or if you have sighted Shadow.
Shadow has been sighted by 2 separate people, one at close quarters, and Wendy Godber has found his prints at various places. He is still running round the same general area, and being a husky x he is covering a fair bit of ground. If you live locally and wish to assist, please call Wendy Godber or join his Facebook Group (link on Wendy's post below) so that searches can be organised.Last edited: 2014-11-21 16:33:09 by Owl

Shadow now has a Facebook group: #FindShadow Please join for more information and/or to help. If tweeting to help find Shadow please include hashtag #FindShadow
Hi how long you had shadow and is he chipped
Hope you are lucky and find him pretty soon, the tip about leaving clothing works. They quite often return to the spot they were last seen
Advice I recently saw from professional working dog owners:
Take a well worn unwashed garment belonging to the owner together with a bowl of water (no food which would attract unwelcome visitors) to the place the dog was last seen. Check the place a few hours later and again if no results. The dog should smell the owners odour and stay by the clothes. The water is just for hydration.

Are there some dog boarding kennels and a nursing home nearby that someone nearer than me could poster? I am available later in the week to help poster Stay safe.
Hope gorgeous Shadow is soon back home, safe and well xxx
